Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
Interline Brands is seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in analysis & project management to join as a leader on the Competitive Intelligence/Pricing Strategy team.  The Manager of Competitive Intelligence will provide subject matter expertise, project management and analytical support to create and operationalize processes and tools across our organization, with the goal of enhancing our knowledge & use of competitive intelligence. The Manager will understand the needs of constituencies, including the Pricing Team, Sales team and Merchants, and prioritize IT development for our CI programs.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 25%  Develop & execute new concepts & strategies to drive IBI's understanding of the competitive landscape. This includes quality crosses, increased data organization, tools & highly efficient processes with each unique end user group in mind.
  • 25%   Develop necessary communication to leadership to gain alignment and partner with IT to support the further development of the CrossFire tool to mine, analyze & apply competitive intelligence data for business planning & decision making. Provide continuous monitoring & improvement of competitive data on all systems.
  • 20%   Keep leadership team informed of competitor trends affecting the business and communicate findings to various teams. This may include developing reporting to track competitive data by end market, competitor, price point and/or use case.
  • 20%  Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal & development.
  • 10%   Collaborate with other internal crossing teams to align efforts and increase the collection and distribution of standardized competitive material throughout the organization.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Reports to Director of Pricing and has 3 to 4 direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
ENVIRONMENT:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. 
TRAVEL:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 3 years
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.  On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in pricing or competitive intelligence
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Prior experience in database management and creation helpful
  • Data mining experience preferred (SQL)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong core skills including strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical proficiency
  • Ability to quickly assimilate and digest information while making complex issues easy for others to understand
  • Strong communciation skill including the ability to effectively articulate viewpoint to leadership
  • Experience in developing training materials and delivering training sessions
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet critical deadlines
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently
