Your Role and Responsibilities
Develop a planning and optimization component for machine-guided metadata extraction

IBM InfoSphere Information Server is a market-leading data integration and governance platform which includes a family of products that enable you to understand, cleanse, monitor, transform and deliver data, and to bridge the gap between business and IT. Our team at IBM Research and Development in Boeblingen, Germany is a member of the global development community for IBM InfoSphere Information Server with a focus on metadata enrichment and data quality.

As a member of our team you will work on a new approach to extract and organize metadata based automated planning and optimization. The focus of your work will be on evaluating different ways to represent metadata in support of such planning and in the design and implementation of the framework for metadata management and plan execution.

During your internship you
- get deep insights into the area of data integration and governance
- work with open source frameworks, data management infrastructures, and AI tools
- will be part of a global development team
- design and implement leading edge technology under the guidance of senior development
- share your results to the development community and foster discussions with our academic partners

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Study of Computer Science or related area
- Knowledge of analytic techniques, like machine learning
- Knowledge of database technology both SQL and non-SQL
- Strong background in Java development and use of SCM/Build tools such as Git and Maven
- Familiarity with the Unix family of operating systems
- Practical experience with the use of Docker and Kubernetes
