Job Description

Global SAP Upgrade Lead is responsible for the entire project lifecycle including detailed planning and execution of high-quality SAP upgrades globally. This role will manage multiple complex technical application landscape across multiple geographies and partner with other IT orgs (such as DevSecOps, I&O, Enterprise Architecture, etc.) and vendors to plan and deliver SAP upgrades from pursuit/estimation to deployment/Hyper care.

The role is also responsible for identifying global SAP upgrade needs across Enterprise Solutions, working with the leadership on prioritizing the plan and funding needs, aligning with each sector on execution plan, engaging with the vendor(s) to build overall resource and delivery plan and successfully delivering the upgrades.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for planning, executing and delivering high-quality SAP Upgrades and other key projects for all SAP Systems World Wide
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a relationship with the CIOs of all sectors to maintain support for the SAP Upgrade program
  • Responsible for providing SAP upgrade program updates and presentations to executive-level leadership
  • Responsible for managing the relationships with Upgrade vendor, internal IT teams and supporting vendor teams on the SAP Upgrade Program
  • Accountable for end to end planning and leading the execution of the projects, Cutover and Hyper care phases of the project
  • Responsible for managing Basis Project resources across the globe
  • Partner with CTO Infrastructure teams to ensure the right Compute, Database & Network infrastructure is there for all landscape management activities
  • Manage all financials related to SAP Upgrade budget by partnering with corresponding Finance teams
  • Ensure all quality, compliance and fiscal standards are met
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with the external partners
  • Create SOWs, incorporating aligned requirements, PPM Charter Documents and leading respective meetings to ensure understanding and alignment

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, engineering or related field required; masters degree preferred
  • Minimum 15+ years SAP Basis including SAP landscape architecture, 10+ years of SAP experience with SAP Basis & landscape management including SAP upgrades and managing teams
  • Strong technical expertise across multiple landscapes and solution portfolios including SAP HANA, SAP ABAP, SAP JAVA, SAP Cloud systems
  • Experience with upgrade tools such as SAP NZDM, ZDO which facilitate near-zero business outage during an upgrade
Leadership Skills:
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate; solve highly complex and sensitive problems across teams
  • Strong management skills with the ability to develop teams and cultivate talent; ability to influence at all levels of the organization including a willingness to challenge stakeholders to ensure the best solution achieved
  • Strong and effective communication & presentation skills, demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Effective management of multiple, conflicting priorities and ability to work flexible hours based on varying business requirements
  • Demonstrated excellence in project planning, project management and leading project delivery
  • Strong financial management experience with proven ability to manage annual budget
