As part of the project team your project management skills and attention to detail will be used across a spectrum of project management activities. Your role will involve a variety of activities that will require skills such as project management, business analysis, data analysis, project quality, and departmental performance monitoring. You may also be asked to apply different project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid.

You will provide project management and business analysis for a variety of medium to large projects with activities and artifacts including: project scope document, project schedule, IRAADs, status reports, presentations, meeting scheduling, agendas & minutes, roles & responsibilities, quality tracking, issue or conflict resolution, and stakeholder management.

You will create and document performance to quality measures ensuring that our projects are following repeatable, reliable processes and methods. Additionally, the person in this role will be assigned to testing requests, to support and lead End-to-End and User Acceptance Testing planning, configuration, and execution as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible project execution working with teams from various functional areas. Experience in Healthcare operations preferred
  • ""
  • Partner with leadership team assigned to each initiative.
  • ""
  • Coordinate directly with prospective client executives and internal Optum stakeholders to manage projects. This responsibility will require client facing communications, executive-level presence, and storyboarding and presentation skills
  • ""
  • Create deliverables related to pursuit strategy and operating cadence, project status, risks, and expected results. Plan and deliver well-structured oral and written communications, highlighting strategic opportunities
  • ""
  • Provide subject matter expertise in areas including project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, timeline and work plan details, resource gaps, and other areas of expertise based on established project management techniques
  • ""
  • Ensure alignment and understanding of program / project scope and objectives with the organization's strategic objectives, in consultation with applicable stakeholders
  • ""
  • Raise awareness of any misalignment or misunderstanding of project scope and objectives with applicable stakeholders
  • ""
  • Ensure that all impacted areas are identified, and that appropriate resources are engaged to participate in the scope definition process
  • ""
  • Ensure that project scope, requirements and approvals comply with existing governance guidelines and methodology
  • ""
  • Ensure that all project dependencies / linkages are identified (e.g., cross-functional area dependencies, implementation timelines, value proposition overlap areas, etc.)
  • ""
  • Apply consultative thinking and mindset to advise the client and internal stakeholders
  • ""
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or a related field required. (4+ years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelors degree).
  • ""
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • ""
  • 2+ years of experience in managing highly complex cross-functional projects or due diligence efforts with significant leadership / executive-level exposure
  • ""
  • Solid storyboarding skills
  • ""

  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • ""
  • Collaborate with counterparts to support work associated with multiple / simultaneous clients

  • Appetite for tackling the demands of a high-performance environment

  • Ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders at various levels (executives, senior-level BAL and PDL roles, client executives, client admin and PMO staff, internal project managers, etc.)
