**ROLE SUMMARY**

Laboratory Excellence Lead will establish and lead the department's programs and projects related to equipment management and continuous process improvement. Responsibilities will focus on the management of the department's network of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, including operational reliability, installation/qualification, calibration coordination, and laboratory optimization. Additional responsibilities will include identifying and leading continuous process improvement initiatives and 5S across the department laboratories. The role will also contribute to the implementation of laboratory operations strategy and organization development.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Manages and oversees the laboratory operations activities for the Analytical Development laboratories, including coordination of with outside vendors/suppliers and coordination with Metrology, R&D systems, Quality and other functions to ensure laboratory compliance.

+ Serves as System Owner for instrumentation and systems for the laboratories; responsible for periodic reviews, including leadership for data integrity efforts for the laboratories.

+ Leads 5S for the laboratories, ensuring processes are being maintained and integrated effectively

+ Leads critical laboratory initiatives for continuous improvement efforts.

+ Responsible for leading performance review board efforts for the department.

+ Interacts with audit teams (internal and external), including leading key laboratory efforts with respect to regulatory audit readiness.

+ Requires frequent standing, walking through laboratories.

+ Working environment involves normal office and laboratory environment where procedures, PPE (personal protective equipment) or protective apparel/devices may be needed to address noise, dust, fumes, safety hazards, etc.

+ Role will be main point of contact for the department if alarms for critical systems (incubators, cold storage, freezers, etc.) are triggered and will be expected to address or coordinate off hours fixes to address the alarms.

+ Potential for limited travel.



**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Bachelor's degree or higher in a science related field and at least 8 years of pharmaceutical experience in a laboratory is required



**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Detail and planning oriented skills

+ Able to work autonomously on routine tasks

+ Good oral and written communication skills
