The Lead Tax Accountant is responsible for (1) the analysis and interpretation of tax law to identify opportunities to minimize the organizations legal tax liabilities; (2) advising partners and stakeholders throughout the Company on the federal income tax aspects of acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and other business and tax initiatives; and (3) supporting other Department functions to achieve proper, timely reporting.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Conduct in-depth tax research and analysis, including review of legal documentation and creation of tax modeling relating to transactions (M&A, divestitures, internal reorganizations, partnership formations, and commercial deals), strategies, business planning, and operations.

Collaborate with other Tax personnel and external consultants on identifying and advising on tax risks and opportunities, mitigating those risks, and implementing tax-saving strategies and optimal terms and structures.

Advise management and other internal stakeholders, including Corporate Development, Finance, Legal, Accounting, Treasury, among others.

Support other Tax functions, including compliance, tax accounting, audits, and legislative and regulatory advocacy.

Draft memoranda in support of tax positions.

Monitor changes in tax law, Company operations and structure, and the industry to facilitate timely and effective support.

Advise on opportunities for process improvements in tax planning functions.

Education: Typically a Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Typically requires 5-7 years experience.
