**Overall Purpose** : Collaborates with an internal and external team to analyze and interpret existing law and upcoming tax legislation (primarily federal, but also state, local and foreign) to advise to the tax implications of specific transactions as well as identify opportunities to minimize the organizations legal tax liabilities.
**Key Roles and Responsibilities** :
+ Conducts tax research to advise clients and management of the tax implications of transactions.
+ Works with others to provides internal client support to Corporate Development on M&A transactions, Treasury on financing transactions, Corporate Real estate on real estate transactions, and various network and fixed asset teams on network transactions.
+ Develop a deep understanding of AT&Ts legal entity structure, accounting, and business operations to recommend restructuring or changes in tax accounting methods that will reduce cash income tax or reduce tax expense.
+ Documents income tax positions for other groups within the tax department on a timely basis. Provides support of how to report positions on tax returns.
+ Manage large and complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and drive those projects to completion.
**Education** : Bachelors and advanced degree preferred.
**Experience** : Typically requires 5-7 years of experience.
**Supervisory** : No.
