Auto req ID: 268132BR Job Description A senior legal leadership role that partners closely with the PepsiCo Beverages North America (PBNA) Supply Chain and Operations teams in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Quality, Make and Move, operational transformation and real estate (legal and environmental aspects). The successful candidate will have a broad and deep knowledge of the business, an ability to advise and influence senior level (VP/SVP) executives, strong client relationships in multiple functions, and the ability to collaborate effectively across the broader PepsiCo law department all while supporting company goals and advancing transformative, complex, and strategic initiatives. This role is ideal for a candidate with legal expertise in Operations areas (EHS and/or FDA regulatory law). This role will report to the SVP, General Counsel of PBNA and will be based out of Purchase, NY (with an option to be based in Plano, TX or Chicago, IL) Accountabilities Member of the PBNA Supply Chain/Operations Leadership Teams: Function as a part of Supply Chain/Operations core business leadership teams in several sub-areas including EHS, Quality and Engineering. PBNA Legal Team Leader: Oversee and manage PBNA Operations legal team (attorney and legal assistant) to ensure all aspects of Operations/Supply Chain are supported by legal. Coordinate the legal support for each Operations sub-area, including Fleet, Transport, Co-Packing and Warehouse Operations. Link in additional legal support in the areas of regulatory, alliances, sustainability, real-estate, litigation employment/labor, when needed. Support PBNA EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Team: Support day-to-day safety/OSHA topics and preventative measures, including review of correspondence with OSHA. Conduct environmental due diligence on projects. Oversee Environmental remediation and litigation projects, including reports to Control on exposure/costs. Support PBNA Quality Team: Provide advice on FDA matters, product defect/recall situations, crisis management and manufacturing-related issues. Support R&D support on food-related questions. Support compliance with applicable regulations for plants and facilities (water regulations, OSHA regulations, etc.). Support the Valhalla, NY production facility on operations topics. Support PBNAs CapEx Committee by reviewing requests and documentation for Capex projects. Support Real Estate and Economic Incentive transactions by reviewing requests and materials. Support M&A Transactions with environmental, quality and supply chain aspects. Legal Training: Create and hold legal training sessions for business teams on relevant legal topics Project-based legal support on material business projects as they arise, including tax, regulations, innovation, etc. COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role. Please note that all such company vaccine requirements provide the opportunity to request an approved accommodation or exemption under applicable law Qualifications/Requirements J.D. at an accredited law school, minimum of ten years related legal experience preferably gained at a corporate legal department of a large consumer products company and/or large law firm. Engineering, science, environmental or regulatory background strongly preferred. Strong academic/professional credentials required as well as superior writing and communication skillsSkills / Experiences Required: Deep knowledge of EHS legal areas (environmental, OSHA, etc.) a must and experience with food-related regulations is key. Broad-based legal skills and subject matter knowledge expertise in beverages and food law. Experience in legal support of litigation, sales, marketing and/or corporate transactions a plus. Deep experience in contract negotiation and drafting commercial contracts essential. Problem-solving outlook and ability to work at a fast pace to drive forward the strategic vision of the PBNA business. Strong ability to manage a small team (attorney and legal assistant) in an effective and growth-focused manner. Strong ability to build trust relationships with senior leaders that will enable candidate to deliver strategic risk assessments at a fast pace. Executive maturity for regular interaction with senior leaders. Collaborative style necessary. Candidate will be required to coordinate and liaise on a frequent basis with numerous internal PepsiCo cross-functional teams on a regular basis. Strong prioritization, efficiency and organization skills needed to support multiple projects and time-sensitive requests from each business team. Subject matter knowledge / expertise regarding existing PepsiCo businesses in food and beverages (including non-compete restrictions), company joint venture arrangements and partnerships, and other similar topics.
