Alabama Clinical Schools has been a behavioral healthcare provider in the Birmingham area for over 20 years. Our treatment services range from intensive residential treatment for males ages 9-18 to therapeutic foster care for males and females of all ages. Our RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care programs for boys are the only programs of their kind in the State of Alabama. Our mission is simple: to enrich lives of at risk youth and their families by delivering quality behavioral and educational services while fostering a safe transition to the community.

We are currently seeking energetic and dynamic applicants to join our team as Licensed Therapist.Primary population consists of adolescent males with a variety of mental health disorders and behavioral issues. Responsible for all aspects of treatment planning including developing, implementing and administering treatment plans, conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions, and communicating progress (written and verbal) to DHR workers, family, and/or other invested parties in a timely and accurate fashion.

Job Requirements
  • Masters degree in Counseling or Social Work from an accredited university
  • Professional license required
  • Good communication skills and appropriate professional boundaries
  • Able to safely monitor residents and perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention
  • Work-related experience in individual, family and group therapy as well as psychosocial assessment
  • Thorough knowledge of emotional disturbances,mental healthdiagnosis, and a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches
  • Strong clinical documentation and above average computer skills
  • Well versed in intervention techniques in working with families and residents as well as regulatory requirements and Alabama laws
  • Able to work independently while collaborating with a clinical team
  • Dependable, organized with efficient time management skills
  • Reliable, following through on assignments
  • Successfully pass background screen (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check) and drug testing

New hires must be able to attend 2 weeks of New Employee Orientation (ALL classes required) on day shift, normally 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
