Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in organization’s facilities by performing the following duties:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.

  2. Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.

  3. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.

  4. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

  5. Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

  6. Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

  7. Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment.

  8. Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers.

  9. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.

  10. Maintain facility – painting, carpentry, sheetrock, and maintain pool and pool equipment.

  11. Perform water treatment and maintain data records as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

    Valid state driver’s license.

  3. LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  4. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Elementary use of computer spreadsheet programs.

  5. REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  6. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; and taste and smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  7. WORK ENVIRONMENT

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock; and risk of vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or rage, exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors.
