Prudential International Insurance (PII) Controllership Team has an opening for a highly motivated and inquisitive Manager of Planning & Analysis focusing on reinsurance block assumed from Japan operations.   The International Controllership team provides support for financial and management reporting for insurance operations outside of the US including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, Malaysia, India and Indonesia.  The team is also responsible for the analysis and implementation of new accounting standards/policies, global lead on IFRS implementation and development of key financial reporting metrics to be used in management reporting. 


This role will be focusing on management reporting (both Actuals and Forecast) including business driver analytics and other strategic deliverables on reinsurance blocks (PICA and Gibraltar Re) assumed from Japan operations which requires strong analytical and collaboration skills.  The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with Newark based teams including Actuarial, Investment Finance, ICAPM, Consolidation P&A and also requires coordination with finance teams in Japan operations. The individual in this role will provide a line of sight on PIIs reinsurance block of business and will be a key contributor to PIIs management reporting and driver processes. 


The incumbent will report to the Director, Financial Reporting within the Controllership with principal responsibilities as follows:   

  • Lead and oversee the development of senior management presentations mainly on forecasts including multi scenario stress testing 
  • Provide oversight of the business driver reporting process, which includes ownership of the Obero Driver model

  • Assist in preparing Senior Management for quarterly earnings calls with investors

  • Efficiently manage deliverable calendar, timely communication of key dates as a liaison between Japan operations

  • Establish close working relationships and partner effectively with PII Finance teams and business partners

  • Ongoing identification and implementation of process efficiencies  


  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting

  • Prefer advanced degree or designation (MBA, CPA, CFA)

  • Minimum 5 years financial related experience

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Easily establishes a rapport with others, as well as builds effective business partnerships

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Proactive, high degree of self-motivation and passion to succeed

  • Ability to work through issues independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities under tight deadlines; attention to detail

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of Prudentials financial systems (FFB, Obero, Oracle, EFDW, etc) preferred

  • Overtime required during peak periods
