Provides input for an annual action plan identifying key government relations objectives and priorities at the state and local levels that will benefit the companys top and bottom lines and create shareholder value. The Manager, Government Relations will be responsible for managing relationships with elected officials located in: Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Indiana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. \u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003EMAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES\u003C/strong\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003E 20% Develop and implement government relations strategies and legislative agenda for primary responsibility states. Those states will be determined based on the background and experience of the manager, government relations. \u003Cbr /\u003E 10% Responsible for following all election laws and to enforce compliance and reporting by team. \u003Cbr /\u003E 20% Responsible for building and maintaining relationships on behalf of The Home Depot with state elected and appointed officials such as governors, Lt. governors, attorneys general and legislative leaders as well as county and city officials such as county board members, mayors and city council members. \u003Cbr /\u003E 20% Manage state and local legislative and regulatory agenda including tracking legislation at the state and local level. Responsible for working with internal business partners to develop positions and communicating views and influencing state and local officials. \u003Cbr /\u003E 20% Manage outside consultants, state retail associations and partnerships with national public policy and legislative groups. Develop and manage budget for multi-state region that includes dues and subscriptions, travel, contributions and consulting/professional fees. \u003Cbr /\u003E 10% Develop and maintain relationships with Home Depot internal departments and executives to identify operational issues requiring legislative action.\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003ENATURE AND SCOPE\u003C/strong\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003E Senior Manager, State/Local Government Relations \u003Cbr /\u003E No direct responsibility for supervising others.\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003EENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003C/strong\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003EEnvironment: \u003C/strong\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003E Located in a comfortable indoor area. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003EAdditional Qualifications:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003E Government experience or a proven track record handling government relations for a Fortune 200 company or trade association is desired.\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003EPreferred Qualifications:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003E Must have experience working for a state legislature, governor\u0027s office, large city/county office or previous experience in government relations, public affairs, or lobbying at Fortune 500 company or trade association.\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cbr /\u003E \u003Cstrong\u003EKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:\u003Cbr /\u003E \u003C/strong\u003EMust possess superior written and oral communications skills. Excellent presentation skills required. Exceptional judgment and ability to function and multi-task under pressure. Travel expected. \u003Cbr /\u003E Manager will be one of the company\u0027s primary spokespeople/interfaces with key state and local elected officials as well as organizations and community groups related to the company\u0027s top issues.\u003C/div\u003E
