Orrick currently has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Specialist who is ready to be challenged within an AmLaw 50 law firm.  This position will support broad business development efforts for the Finance sector firmwide. This position will be located in either the San Francisco, New York, Boston, Washington, DC or Los Angeles office.

Your Responsibilities: The primary role is to assist assigned practice group lawyers and marketing colleagues with the efficient, effective and integrated execution of strategic activities that support Orrick's firm wide business development goals including:

  • Contribute to, manage, track or drive marketing and business development initiatives for the Finance sector and Finance Business Unit practice groups, such as:
    • Practice group business development projects 
    • Client development initiatives or projects
    • Market research and competitive intelligence for prospective and current clients 
    • Market positioning programs, including advertising, events and sponsorships 
    • Survey and directory submissions 
    • Pitches, proposals and responses to RFPs, ensuring pitch and proposals books are current 
    • Fact sheets, brochures and other collateral materials 
    • Experience database 
    • Blogs and other social networking channels 
    • Lawyer biographies
  • Assist with enhancing the visibility of the attorneys and the firm in local, regional, global and industry platforms, including speaking engagements, writing opportunities and other brand-building initiatives.
  • Update and keep current practice group collateral material on all available sources.
  • Maintain various firm systems and communication vehicles (internal and external). 
  • Support and drive projects in association with the communications and public relations teams to create media opportunities.
  • Liaise with and collaborate with various firm departments like Research, Document Services, Special Projects, IT, Reports, Finance and others for efficient delivery of work product, solutions and strategic reporting in support of complex institutional projects. 


  • Four-year degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, English or other related discipline preferred. Applicants may be required to submit writing samples.
  • 3+ years of experience in a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Excellent computer skills necessary; high proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as strong ability to navigate online platforms and databases.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Accepts accountability and effectively communicates project status and adheres to deadlines. 
  • Action-oriented, intellectually sharp, capable and agile. 
  • Highly productive and flexible with ability to handle fast-paced, high-demand environment. 
  • Maintains a "can-do" attitude and takes appropriate initiative. 
  • Able to coordinate multiple projects while prioritizing work assignments. 
  • Strong communications skills and commitment to teamwork. 
  • Builds rapport well amongst colleagues at all levels of the firm and is a good listener.
