Suncoast Behavioral Health Center is a private, acute inpatient psychiatric facility designed to provide quality services in a supportive environment to children, adolescents and adults.

The Hospital is looking for a Mental Health Tech. In this positionyou will be responsible for ensuring the safety of patients in the Intake Department and assisting the Intake Department to maintain compliance with all policies and procedures.


  • Greets patients and families upon arrival to the Intake Department
  • Help orient the patient to Intake and the process
  • Conducts initial safety search of all patients upon arrival
  • Conducts patient monitoring and observation 15 minute checks
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the patients
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians
  • React calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Job Requirements

Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test.

Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelors Degree in psychology or related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum 1 year previous psychiatric/behavioral direct care experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Tech working with children, adolescents and/or adults.

Skills: Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Physical Requirements: Extensive walking, standing, sitting, Must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds. Must be to participate in the physical restraint and seclusion of patients. Must be able to participate in and complete Handle With Care Training on an annual basis.
