Job Description

Arbour Hospital is a 136-bed private psychiatric facility located in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood. The hospital specializes in adult mental health treatment, adolescent and dual diagnosis services. Other services include partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and outpatient treatment.

Programs Include:

24-Hour Evaluations, Triage, and Admissions
Inpatient Treatment for Adolescents and Adults
The Quincy Center Inpatient Psychiatric Unit for Adults
Partial Hospitalization for Adults
Dual Diagnosis Services for Adolescents and Adults
Inpatient and Outpatient ECT Services.
Outpatient Services

Arbour Hospital is seeking dynamic and talented Nurse Manager. This is an exempt position (24h accountability) responsible for managing the daily operations and nursing care in line with clinical practice standards of units they are assigned. The Nurse Manager is responsible for Nursing staff and related medical support staff including RNs and MHAs.

This is a 40 hour per week position.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Oversees clinical nursing care, ensuring compliance with established regulations and standards including quality assurance, confidentiality, and medical record documentation.
  2. Provides direct supervision to nurses and subordinate staff, ensuring appropriate assessment and treatment of patient health. Serves as key problem-solving resource for staff on patient issues. Studies patient needs/trends and suggests solutions to ongoing patient care problems.
  3. Collaborates with DON/supervisors on development and implementation of nursing department’s mission, goals, policies, procedures, budget quality assurance plan, and work standards.
  4. Compiles/analyzes data on patient outcomes, quality assurance results, budget/goal achievement, and performance/productivity and prepares reports for administration.
  5. Participates in team planning related to clinic and emergency/disaster response system.
  6. Analyzes staffing patterns with DON/HR Director. Maintains required NCHs for unit. Collaborates with human resources department on recruiting, selecting& orienting/training
  7. Conducts performance review meetings, regularly provides feedback and coaching and is responsible for the overall development and succession planning of the staff
  8. Active committee participant for unit base & hospital
  9. Perform other duties as assigned/required
  10. Act as house coverage/rotation when required
  11. Collaborates with other disciplines to affect positive patient outcomes

Job Requirements

BSN from accredited school of nursing preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of professional nursing experience
2 years supervisory-level experience preferred
Current state MA license. Current CPR certificate
Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety hazards and standards, and health care laws and regulations.
Knowledge of budgetary, supervisory, human resources, and quality-improvement principles and techniques.
Knowledge of principles of employee development to ensure appropriate training and mentoring of staff.
Skill in developing and maintaining high level of quality care/quality assurance.
Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously and deal effectively with changing priorities.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, twist, bend and stand for long periods.
Able to write, speak and understand English at high school level and work as a member of interdisciplinary team.
