HX5 is currently seeking a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to join our team in Fort Walton Beach, Florida at Eglin Air Force Base to support the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Centers Long-Range Standoff Cruise Missile (LRSO CM) program within the Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division, AFNWC/NDB.  This division has the responsibility to develop, test, acquire, integrate, and support nuclear-capable weapon capabilities to meet warfighter requirements.


 


This role will perform modeling and simulation of the LRSO CM and verify the offerors six degrees of freedom (6-DOF) Integrated Flight Simulation (IFS) model properly simulates the expected flight environment of the CM.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Serve as the primary focal point for vehicle flight control modeling and simulation data.

  • Perform the review of technical material and analysis of performance data to perform verification and validation of the offerors IFS air vehicle flight control models and provide recommendations to the LRSO Leadership, Customer, and External Stakeholders on the capabilities and limitations of the models in the intended use environment.

  • Support developing, executing, and documenting the LRSO M&S toolbox and tasks required to produce the information necessary for the LRSO system performance accreditation assessment.

  • Perform detailed reviews, studies, analysis, evaluations, and audits to provide technical recommendations to the Government in assessing the development of the CMs operational flight program software design and impacts upon CM reliability.

  • Perform various duties as required including developing computer scripts to perform daily modeling and simulation tasks and resolve code errors as required, as well as the development of software documentation for planning, requirements definition, design, and test.

  • May provide M&S training for delivered systems, attend system performance training, and participate in the System Performance IPTs working groups, as needed.

  • Assist and make recommendations to the LRSO Program Chief Engineer in the assessment of contractor conducted System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) and Knowledge Point (KP) reviews, and the contractors ability to proceed to the next SETR/KP phase of the program.

  • Conduct proposal evaluation in a non-decision making role as an advisor (not an evaluator); analyzing and reviewing proposals, and preparing responses to the proposals.

  • Develop, prepare, review, and integrate selected milestone review technical documentation, periodic reports, and certifications.



 


Education and Experience



  • Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:


    • BS and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.

    • MS and ten (10) years of relevant experience.

    • Ph.D. and five (5) years of relevant experience.



  • Knowledge planning, evaluating, documenting, and implementing modeling and simulation of DoD weapon systems

  • Knowledge of/experience with the application of languages and analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++/C#, and the ability to compile and execute in additional programming languages using Windows and LINUX Operating Systems



 


Preferences



  • MS in Engineering from an ABET accredited program and fifteen (15) years of experience.





Must be a US citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.


 


Must have an active Top-Secret clearance.


 


Must be able to travel as required (est. 20%) and able to rent/operate rental cars while on travel.


 


Must be able to work varied/flexible hours as needed.
