The National Director of Specialty Growth is Responsible for formulating coordinated business strategies and operational plans to ensure the sales, growth, and profitability of UnitedHealthcare's Specialty Benefits Portfolio across all segments and markets. This position is responsible for overall management of Specialty Growth operations and National Programs. The position oversees and manages reporting, sales targets, sales forecasting, National Pricing programs, Internal and external compensation programs and communication. Interface with leadership in shared service functions and other functional areas as appropriate, such as marketing, product, and finance and operations. The position reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer, UHC Specialty Benefits and is an individual contributor with a high degree of motivating and influencing across UHC commercial sales and distribution leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop key internal and external relationships to facilitate results. Understand and create a strategy based on analysis and reporting of sales and market trends; including sales plan execution, competitive intelligence and new product requirements
  • Oversee and manage budget, ancillary reporting, sales targets, sales forecasting and compensation programs
  • Manage national pricing and new business programs
  • Responsible for specialty reporting and the development of compelling dashboard reports and actionable analytics
  • Interface with leadership in shared service functions and other functional areas as appropriate such as marketing, product, and finance
  • Manage and engage with select National specialty distribution partners
  • Coordination with other business segments including HP local markets and national accounts
  • Participate as appropriate in new sales activities and renewals Collaborate with the product organization and other functional organizations in the development and enhancement of current products, services and customer offerings
  • Assist the regional specialty leaders in achieving consistent activity disciplines to maximize new business development and ensure consistent pipeline growth
  • Be the subject matter expert to ensure all sales teams and distribution outlets are fully competent and trained appropriately to sell specialty products
  • Develops best practices and implement those based on regional and local market conditions
