JOB SUMMARY:


Under the supervision of the Parts Manager, performs duties in connection with the supply and control of parts and materials at DCTC, issue parts and tools to maintenance personnel, and accurately recording data to ensure the Maintenance Department is able to maintain the bus fleet in safe operating condition, and assists in satisfying the material needs of other internal and external customers as needs arise. 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Responsible for organizing and filing repair orders.

  • Maintains information regarding life history of all vehicles including daily fuel and oil usage, and major component serial numbers.

  • Organizes and assists with coordinating daily PMI schedule and Maintenance Repair Orders.

  • Responsible for the ordering of parts, issue of purchase orders, receiving of orders, stocking of orders, and the processing of invoices.

  • Ensure the cleanliness of the parts storage area, parts counter and parts receiving area.

  • Works with the Parts Manager to maintain inventory control of parts.

  • Performs annual physical inventory and weekly cycle counts to assure that an accurate part inventory is maintained at all times.

  • Use a variety of materials and inventory operations equipment; such as, forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, computers, etc.

  • Investigate and report on incidents of incorrect materials, supply overages, and other technical problems.

  • Must read chemical labels and follow safe handling procedures.

  • Ability to complete an assigned task in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.

  • Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers and supervisors.

  • Must understand and follow all safety rules.

  • Other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to utilize standard computer programs.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Some knowledge of parts and tools needed to repair diesel equipment preferred.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

  • Minimum age 21 years



KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:



  • Knowledge/experience of spreadsheets and word processing.

  • Skilled in both verbal and written communication.

  • Skilled in problems solving and decision making.

  • Skilled in multi-tasking.

  • Must be able to research, gather and analyze information carefully

  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

  • Possess a fork lift license  or have the ability to obtain a fork lift license within 90 day probationary period

  • Excellent phone communications skills

  • Demonstrated ability in working with standard office machines including, but not limited to, fax, copy machine, printers and label makers

  • Knowledge of parts, materials, supplies and general commodities associated with the operation of a Shop that maintains cars, light and medium duty trucks, buses and equipment.

  • Knowledge of vendor sources for procurement of needed parts, materials, and supplies for DCTC fleet and equipment.

  • Knowledge of stocking purchases and requisition methods and procedures.

  • Ability to move parts and equipment of various sizes and shapes and may be of considerable weight.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Ability to move or lift up to 75 pounds and be able to climb, push and pull parts and equipment.

  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. 

  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and view a computer monitor screen.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:


Work is performed in an office and stockroom near a garage area and exposes the employee to various fumes and gases from vehicle exhausts, solvents, grease, oils, paint and other chemical hazards and extreme weather conditions while working outside.
