POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Coordinator, the Phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for performing venipunctures, capillary blood specimen collections, point of care testing (POCT), and related procedures under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the Department of Laboratory Services. The Phlebotomist, under the guidance of the Phlebotomy Coordinator, will assist in the training and guidance of phlebotomy students and new employees. These responsibilities encompass the internal functioning of the Department and the integration of the Department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Phlebotomist supports an organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

Job Requirements


1. Minimum Education: High school graduation or equivalent required; Successful completion of a phlebotomy program preferred.

2. Minimum Work Experience: One year of full time experience preferred.

3. Certifications: PBT(ASCP) required or eligible (to be obtained within 12 months of employment)

4. BLS certification upon hire and maintained throughout.

5. Valid Texas Drivers License with no more then 3 moving violations in the past 3 years.
