Primary Responsibilities:

    "
  • Draws blood specimens from the patients of the clinic for laboratory analysis
  • "
  • Ensures sample is drawn with the proper tube, labeled correctly, and patient is appropriately identified
  • "
  • Verifies patient information, insurance information, and correct lab order and ICD10 code are associated with each order sent to lab
  • "
  • Enters lab data of WBC count for Clozapine patients into the web portal for Clozapine REMS using computers and related software
  • "
  • Utilize Clozapine REMS portal to ensure proper laboratory frequency and to authorize medication dispensing
  • "
  • Answer incoming phone calls, address pharmacy requests and tirage provider inquiries
  • "
  • Demonstrates knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing phlebotomist practices with application to pharmacy practices
  • "
  • Exhibits knowledge of basic first-aid procedure
  • "
  • Exercises tact and professionalism when dealing with mental health patients and being sensitive to timing, situations, and confidential relationships
  • "
  • Collaborate with the Community Mental Health services to help consumers maintain blood draw schedules
  • "
  • Transport medications according to demand
  • "
  • Updates professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, training, etc.
  • "
  • Fills prescription orders and makes them available for verification under direct supervision of the registered pharmacist
  • "
  • Works with the Pharmacist to assist in the pharmacy functions and keeping the pharmacy in compliance with all federal and state requirements
  • "
  • Adheres to blood borne pathogen standards and bio-medical risk standards as outlined in guide on Phlebotomy techniques
  • "
  • Ensures compliance with Infection Control Policy
  • "
  • Performs laboratory housekeeping tasks including keeping shelves stocked, counters, and supply areas clean
  • "
  • Performs various electronic and manual clerical duties relating to the department
  • "
  • Communicates with solid professional verbal and written communication skills
  • "
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Orders, receives, and stores incoming pharmacy supplies

  • Promote and encourage consumers to utilize pharmacy and immunization services

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • "
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program
  • "

Preferred Qualification:

  • Successful completion of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) exam
  • "
  • Experience in a fast-paced medical setting
  • "
  • Willingness and motivation to obtain a Pharmacy Tech licensure utilizing company resources within 30 days of start date or current licensure as a Pharmacy Tech in Michigan
