Pilot Plant Senior Supervisor
Overview In PepsiCo Foods R&D, the Global Process Center (pilot plant) contains small-scale snack food and breakthrough innovation technology which enables our R&D team to innovate with speed and agility. The pilot plant manager is accountable for effective and efficient function of all aspects of the pilot plant. In this role, the Manager is accountable for leading a team to successfully prepare and execute R&D trials, maintain equipment for high performance while meeting all health, safety and food safety requirements. In addition, this role is also accountable for setting the necessary strategy for capital planning, people development and operational growth needs to enable long-term success. Responsibilities Further accountabilities of this role include the following: Leads and creates plans to deliver highest operational performance of the GPC facility, ensuring the needs of the Project Team customers are met in the short and long term Keeps safety as a top priority. Ensures the GPC and warehouse are a safe working environment, compliant to legal standards for equipment, chemicals/ingredients, and operational practices. Delivers against all Food safety and quality standards (AIB, FSMA, FDA) and ensures all are held to a high standard, with appropriate controls in place. Implements changes in food safety practices as laws are implemented to drive compliance. Development of all associates on the team ensuring effective training and development plans are in place for all team members with opportunities for personal development and growth in role. Defines the long-term vision for the Center in terms of capabilities, resources, capital planning and operational needs. Create execution plans to deliver. Creates a collaborative partnership with other Process Centers to ensure standardization of approach and efficiency across the Global network. Capable of managing both Capital and Expense budgets for full operation and deliver against annual operating plan. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in engineering disciplines or related field Min 5 years experience in a CPG/Food manufacturing / engineering environment Must be an experienced people manager with demonstrated capability to lead teams (front-line, preferred) Solid grounding in Health and Safety, with working knowledge of MESS Solid grounding in food safety, preferably HACCP level 3 or above Solid understanding of good manufacturing practices Leadership and Management Competencies: Able to inspire passion around shared goals both with direct reports and colleagues Ability to create and deliver an impactful vision for the team, keeping the team focussed on the key deliverables and removing obstacles to delivery Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence with integrity through persuasive communication to win support at more senior levels within R&D Self-starter, self-motivating: able to balance competing priorities without losing momentum and manage uncertainty and complexity in fast evolving FMCG environments Leadership of multi-functional teams (operations, food safety, engineering) Good planning and organizational skills, including project management Ability to interface effectively with GPC customers up to B1 Must be practical, hands-on, and comfortable with basic mechanical operations (fryers, sheeters, ovens, pumps, etc.) Effective communicator verbally and written Values different perspectives and experiences and establishes trust and mutual respect when working with others Fosters a positive, inclusive work environment where people feel respected and valued for their contributions Supports people to build their skills and empowers others to act and think in ways that will get the job done Promotes an environment of achievement, recognition, and celebration.
