The IMRU Cardiomotabolism group is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellow to explore the intersection of metabolic dysfunction and cardiovascular diseases. The successful candidate will establish preclinical models to study the mechanisms whereby obesity and insulin resistance impact heart diastolic dysfunction and atrial fibrillation. This work will include preclinical rodent modeling of disease, testing of mechanistic hypotheses, and evaluation of therapeutic approaches to impact disease.

The Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) at Pfizer is dedicated to the identification of new approaches to treat the underlying metabolic alterations driving chronic diseases such as heart failure, diabetes, NASH, and cachexia. Within the IMRU, the Cardiometabolism group is focused on the intersection of heart failure and metabolic dysfunction, looking for first in class approaches to target heart diseases in diabetic and obese patients.


+ Lead preclinical efforts to establish in vivo evaluations of cardiovascular complications of the metabolic syndrome

+ Lead efforts to implement novel mechanistic studies of heart dysfunction and structure (i.e. scRNAseq, tissue imaging)

+ conceptualize and design experiments

+ organize and conduct in vivo/ ex vivo/ in vitro studies independently (including preparation, data collection, interpretation, and presentation)

+ maintain awareness of scientific and technical developments in field

+ author manuscripts for quality publications in top-tier journals.

+ attend and present at international meetings and collaborate across groups in the research unit.


+ PhD and less than 4 years of prior postdoctoral experience in relevant fields of biology (prior experience in heart function preferable)

+ Successful track record of scientific achievements through scientific publications and presentations.

+ Strong written/verbal communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate
