Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Cambridge, MA 02139

The Rare Disease Research Unit is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellow to explore the biology of the rare autosomal recessive disorder Friedreich ataxia. Friedreich ataxia results from the deficient expression of frataxin, a mitochondrial protein involved in iron-sulfur cluster biogenesis. The successful candidate will establish and use models of Friedreich ataxia to identify and characterize cellular modulations that impact the phenotype associated with frataxin deficiency. S/he is expected to have excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and presentation skills (written and oral).

Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) is focused on developing therapies for inherited diseases, including neuromuscular and neurodegenerative disorders. The successful candidate will be a member of a group focused on repeat expansion diseases and amyloid diseases.
