Postdoctoral Research Fellow

We are seeking an experienced computational chemist who also has organic synthesis lab experience for a post-doctoral position in the Process Chemistry group within Chemical Research and Development (CRD) in Groton, CT. CRD is responsible for the development of technology for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

The focus of this position will be application of computational analysis coupled to experiments directed towards establishing mechanistic models which will be used to inform the design of new organofluorinating reagents.


+ Ph.D. in Chemistry with 0-2 years post-graduate experience (industrial experience is a plus, but not a requirement)

+ An advanced understanding of physical organic chemistry. This can include completion of graduate level courses in physical organic chemistry and/or publications of research involving elucidation of organic reaction mechanisms.

+ Experience in computational chemistry. The successful candidate will have demonstrated working experience assessing organic chemistry reaction mechanisms by applying DFT calculations of ground and transition states using one or more established computational chemistry applications (examples can include Gaussian, Spartan, ORCA, DMol3).

+ Some organic chemistry lab experience, including setting up, running, and working up reactions, isolation of products and structural elucidation using common techniques and instruments. Advanced techniques working with air and water sensitive organometallic compounds is a plus.

+ Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
