The Practice Management Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Practice Management Coordinator in the New York or Washington, DC office supporting the practice groups. The Coordinator is responsible for providing a combination of technical, analytical and administrative support to the Practice Management Team and the Chief Talent Officer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports the Practice Management Team in assisting Firm and Practice Group Leadership in business planning and analysis, report preparations, meetings and communications and implementation of practice and Firm initiatives.
  • Centralizes the Practice Management (PM) internal communications, including developing substantive internal team meeting agendas and executing PM-specific events.
  • Manages PM shared document workspace, including reporting, budgets and expenses, ad hoc projects, etc. 
  • Assists in the coordination of practice group meetings and presentations.
  • Provides periodic support and data to Business Development.
  • Identifies and coordinates training opportunities for the PM Team on internal and external tools, processes and technology.
  • Assists with modification and roll-out of PM-specific tools, including online reporting and matter management applications.
  • Partners with peer departments (Business Development, Talent Development, Finance & Accounting, Marketing, etc.) and coordinating on behalf of PM.
  • Acts as a first point of contact to the PM Team, which includes monitoring the team inbox and responding to and relaying requests as appropriate.
  • Manages special projects, both internally and with peer departments, as requested. 
  • Performs a variety of administrative tasks and provides general support as assigned.
  • Reviews and analyzes data, including issue-spotting and confirming report accuracy.
  • Assists with ad hoc projects concerning practice group performance at the request of the Firm and Practice Leadership and Practice Managers.


  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a law firm, professional services or corporate environment (Practice Management, Business Development, Talent Development, Financial Services, or Accounting experience a plus).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Demonstrates strategic focus and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team and has the ability to collaborate effectively across administrative departments and practice areas in all offices.
  • Ability to build relationships and gain the trust of the attorneys and other administrative staff members.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, in oral and written form, with people at all levels within the Firm.
  • Exhibit superior attention to detail and pride in high quality deliverables.
  • Must possess financial, analytical and project management skills.
  • Must possess good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, service mentality and sensitivity to confidential information.
