**About the Team**

The Strategic Platforms Application Architecture team in the AT&T Digital Strategic Platform group is looking to build a scalable and performant digital platforms. These platforms will be key pillars to enable delightful experiences to our customers and customer facing agents.

**About the Job**

AT&T Digital Platform Product team is looking for a Principal System Engineer who is passionate about the eCommerce industry and has analytical and multi-task abilities to thrive in a fast-paced environment. As a Principal System Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and support of AT&Ts Wireless Buyflows on att.com in support of the customer and employee digital experience across our consumer distribution channels. You must possess strong technical background and have experience with large cross-organizational software development projects and have a well-rounded technical background in current cloud technologies.

**Responsibilities and Day-to-Day View**

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with critical stakeholders to understand business needs, priority, and the quality of services to be created or enhanced; Drive alignment between application team implementation and solution to be compliant with Target State Architecture; Responsible for discovering and identifying any bottleneck gaps such as manual flows that can hinder the services or impact cycle time or cost and resolve them; Provide architectural governance and technical direction for the solution deployment strategy at the Product team level and architectural alignment across product teams; Designing, documenting and sharing the architectural vision across organizations; Reviewing defined features and user stories to ensure architecture is done according to standards / best practices; Promoting the use of common technologies, design practices, and infrastructure through the solution design to facilitate the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns; Collaboratively defining and integrating strategic technical roadmaps aligning to product roadmaps; Monitoring the implementation of the solution design to ensure adherence to target architecture and reducing introduction of technical debt; Laying out upgrade paths to architectural systems and software life cycle to ensure improved processes; Ensuring Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) for common frameworks, libraries, resiliency, maintainability, automation, performance, logging/debugging, metrics, security, and other common areas of the platform are accommodated for in the solution design; Ensure applications and services are leveraging building blocks whenever possible. Supports integrated solutions between legacy and target state solutions

7+ years of overall IT Industry experience (architecture, design, development, testing); 2+ years of architecture experience in building scalable and optimal performing eCommerce applications; Proven track record in setting and defining architectural solutions and designs aligned with target architecture; RESTful API development, microservices development, solid understanding of design impacts to performance, security, resiliency, and maintainability; Expert level technical expertise in architecture and design of systems; Azure and AWS Cloud experience (certification preferred); Experience in build and CI/CD technologies: GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus or Sonar; Preferred experience in cloud technologies such as OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, Cassandra, Akamai, Ansible, Chef or Terraform; Preferred experience in application monitoring including familiarity with Splunk, Dynatrace, Catchpoint, Grafana, Prometheus, and Nagios; Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear manner to peers, developers, and senior leaders; Proven track record in negotiating across diverse cross-functional teams and multiple leadership levels; Experience working within Agile/Scrum/Kanban development team

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or related field

+ 8-10 years related technical architect experience

+ Proficient in engineering cost estimates and economic analyses and models

+ Knowledge of wireless technologies standards and protocols (3GPP, Wi-Fi, WiMax, antennas, amplifiers, base stations, propagation, interference, spectrum)

+ Proficient in voice, video, and app technologies/protocols (circuit, VoIP, SIP, IMS, AIN, Camel, etc.)

+ Proficient in network and system architecture (subsystems, interfaces, hw/sw dependencies).

+ Proficient in message and conference systems and networks (multiple media, notification, presence, unified communications, video).

+ Knowledge in Network Management, Tools and Protocols (Configuration, IP network Address Management, Perf, Mgmt).

+ Understands Virtualization, Storage and Content Delivery Networks (Cloud, CDM, Grid, SAN).

+ Proficient in specifying and evaluating architecture requirements for RFXs.

**Desired Qualifications**

+ Enterprise wide deployment planning and support for mission critical applications for major releases, both business and infrastructure related

+ Develops technical documentation on applications and systems

+ Ability to work with technical and business-oriented teams
