Job Description

Embark on a future with an international pharmaceuticals company, contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive through the course of this 6 month experience. You will take part in meaningful work and real-life projects that will help you grow both professionally and personally throughout the program. The candidate will work as part of a team within upstream development and execute experimental studies using bench scale bioreactors. The candidate will support media/feed development, routine cell culture maintenance, and analytical evaluations for product quality attributes to evaluate outcome from these experiments. At the end of the term, the candidate will present the work in a cross-functional meeting and also write a technical report.  

Location: West Chester, PA (onsite)

Length: 6 months

Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week for a 6 month period of time starting in June. 

Pay:  $15.00 per hour

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • During the 6 month program, you will gain in-depth insights into the upstream development department.
  • Supported by a mentor and experienced colleagues, you will be directly involved in our daily business and be assigned tasks within diverse projects.
  • Present technical data in internal group meetings as needed and write technical reports
  • Support mammalian cell culture process development of recombinant therapeutic proteins in the following ways:
    • Establish experimental plans with managerial guidance.
    • Independently execute experiments with end-to-end responsibility and minimal supervision.
    • Perform routine cell culture maintenance & seed culture expansion to support bioreactor runs
    • Perform cell culture experiments in shaker flasks and small scale (10L) bioreactors
    • Perform simple analytical techniques, like SDS-PAGE, titer estimation by Protein A-HPLC, AAA analysis etc.
    • Maintain accurate lab notebooks and perform data analysis
    • Perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
    • Maintain a compliant laboratory operation in accordance with protocols, internal procedures and policies


  • Candidate enrolled in a Masters, or a PhD degree program in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or related field of study preferred, Bachelor's degree will be considered. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and independently under general supervision.
  • Experience with aseptic cell culture techniques.
  • Prior experience in mammalian cell culture process development is a plus.
