Optum's Patient Insights Division is committed to improving healthcare through measurement of health and outcomes from the patient's perspective. The department supports customers in life science and population health markets, with patient-reported outcomes (PRO) solutions that include measurement science, technology, advanced analytics and data visualization. Projects can be either internally- or client-funded, and range in size from small, rapid turnover projects to large, multi-phase projects and range across multiple disease areas. Our small team of experts has backgrounds in cognitive and clinical psychology, economics, sociology, public health, biostatistics, and epidemiology and is based in Johnston, Rhode Island. Our team is collegial and supportive of work-life balance.

This position provides support to analysts and scientists engaging in health - related quality of life research projects including health outcomes analysis projects, strategy projects, instrument development projects, and qualitative work.

This position provides primary project support through conducting literature searches and reviews, drafting summaries of literature, developing PowerPoint slides from report text, formatting documents, creating and maintaining Excel files, building and maintaining bibliographic/reference databases, facilitating meetings and taking meeting minutes, copy editing documents, and otherwise supporting the research staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • General word processing (creation and editing)
  • Conduct thorough, detailed review of survey materials to detect and document deviations from source content
  • Prepare and edit presentations and spreadsheets
  • Facilitate meeting arrangements, including minute - taking
  • Organize project materials
  • Conduct electronic literature searches
  • Draft written literature summaries
  • Obtain reprints of scientific articles
  • Use of bibliographic software (Citavi)
  • Document management / filing on SharePoint
  • Build and maintain bibliographic / reference database and related report
  • Assume responsibility for completing tasks in a given timeline and in accordance with quality standards
  • Follow company and department standard operating procedures
