This opening presents an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to expand their PR agency experience and join a great team of professionals that produce innovative and strategic results for their clients. In this position you will be a strong contributor to team management, plan development and developing effective ways of securing earned coverage with media outlets across diverse industries. You'll be a part of maintaining existing accounts, as well as the opportunity to participate in new business development.

What You Will Do:
  • Serve as the account lead for multiple clients, ensuring that client goals and objectives are translated into progressive public relations programs and campaigns
  • Lead a team of colleagues in the day-to-day implementation of strategic PR plans
  • Participate in and direct daily media relations activities
  • Participate in and direct the production of media-facing pitch content
  • Oversee the media relations and content development efforts of your account team(s)
  • Support client tradeshows and conferences, to facilitate media briefings and awareness
  • Ensure appropriate levels of earned coverage, new product roll-outs and thought leadership brand elevation is achieved to meet and exceed client expectations and KPIs
  • Build and maintain strong media relationships to support the diverse industry target market/audience alignment of each client across B2B, B2C and B2G outlets
  • Facilitate all client communications and meetings, to ensure plan fulfillment and performance tracking are properly reported
  • Use Basecamp, Cision, Zoom and other industry specific and performance enhancement tools to effectively implement and manage client and staff activities
  • Seek out ways to consistently improve on client program performance and to grow client budgets
  • If social media or digital marketing are additional account programs, ensure smart and complete integration of PR with those programs
  • Support all agency SOPs, methodologies and reporting structure to maintain cohesive internal and client-facing communications
  • Provide day to day activity direction to all assigned account teams
  • Work with agency president to ensure agency protocols and performance metrics are constantly being observed and improved on
  • Ensure all team members receive timely and comprehensive direction and their performance is consistently tracked and reported on
  • Ensure best practices and SOPs for media relations, content development, tradeshow support, campaign fulfillment, Cision usage and other fundamental PR activities are understood and properly practiced by assigned account team members
  • Foster an open and inclusive agency culture, where diversity, innovation, ideas and colleague support thrives
  • Lead account management processes, such as weekly/monthly reporting, SOW plans and client communication standards are met and maintained
  • Work with new hires to ensure you support their training process to properly adopt and practice agency SOPs, methodologies and communication standards
  • Research and participate in new business development efforts, proposals, pitch meetings, website content contribution and vetting prospective clients

Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in a PR agency
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or equivalent experience
  • Some account leadership experience in managing and directing a team of PR professionals to support diverse accounts
  • A solid grasp of why and how PR provides a client with brand awareness, lead generation, new revenue fulfillment and through leadership positioning
  • Complete understanding of the differences between brand PR and thought leadership PR principles
  • Strong grasp of current PR practices and methodologies for securing earned coverage, delivering effective media relations, producing progressive PR pitch content and applicable industry tools and applications
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, produce, implement and measure PR strategies and tactics
  • You have a proven track record of client relationship-building and consistent earned coverage results
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Thorough knowledge of AP style writing and how to add creativity to writing to earn media interest
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with consistent multiple deadlines and a high demand for staying agile and fleet with actions and decision making
  • Ability to follow direction and give direction that results in proven account team performance
  • Strong communication skills with understanding program deliverables, supervisor direction, positive redirection of expectations to account teams
  • Ability to encourage results, grow effective PR professionals, build strong teams and client relationships
  • Excellent project management skills and how to convert program performance results into measureable reporting back to client
  • Strong understanding of how PR can integrate effectively into client social media and digital marketing programs
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Some agency new business development experience
  • Ability to travel 10 to 20 percent
