Your Role and Responsibilities

The Workday Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our Global Workday Center of Competence will be the resident IBM expert in terms of what it takes to integrate Workday with other applications in a clients infrastructure and existing legacy interfaces. He or she will be experienced in building complex integrations to connect Workday to other applications. A broad understanding of HR Technology as an enabler of the HR function and the employee experience is essential.


The IBM Global Workday Center of Competence is a team of HR, Finance, and Technology SMEs who support our geographically focused Workday practices by providing large deal support and thought leadership to establish IBMs eminence in the global Workday market. Our team:
  • Provides deal leadership; brings the right IBM resources to the deal team based on unique client requirements.
  • Provides expertise and thought leadership around IBMs functional Workday and HR capabilities; contributes to proposals and participates in sales presentations to clients.
  • Assists our geographic practices in using methods and tools to sell and deliver services, differentiating IBM in the market.
  • Provides a provocative, forward looking point of view around HR reimagined with Workday.
  • Represents IBM in the external market and drives IBMs brand reputation as the leader in Workday consulting.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with others
  • The ability to interact with and positively influence clients at all levels of the organization, from the c-suite to the shop floor
  • Excellent oral and written communication as well as strong leadership, project management, and teamwork skills
  • An appropriate mix of confidence and humility
  • Solid core consulting skills and a track record of successful client delivery
  • Experience in dealing with complex solutioning and cross - brand, cross function requirements
  • A strong focus on HR Transformation with the objective of improving the employee experience
  • Deep technical knowledge of Workday across all modules of HR and Finance
  • The ability to travel (both domestically and internationally)
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a virtual team
  • Strong business acumen

The Workday Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our Global Workday Center of Competence will be the regional resident IBM expert in terms of what it takes to transform the HR function with Workday as the enabling technology. He or she will be experienced in reinventing HR with an eye for creating the ultimate Employee Experience and will pursue HR process simplification and standardization.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise
  • At least 8 years' experience in IT/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementations
  • At least 8 years' experience in Human Capital Management (HCM) or Financial Management
  • At least 4 years' experience in ERP web service integrations (i.e., SOAP, WSDL, XML)
  • At least 4 years' experience in Project Delivery / Management
  • At least 4 years' experience in Workday Integrations
  • Workday Certification in Integrations


Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
  • At least 10 years' experience in IT/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation
  • At least 10 years' experience in Human Capital Management (HCM) or Financial Management
  • At least 8 years' experience in Workday Integrations
  • At least 6 years' experience in ERP web service integrations (i.e., SOAP, WSDL, XML)
  • At least 6 years' experience in Project Delivery / Management
