This position is funded by a grant. Continuation is based upon available funds.

Key Accountabilities

Coordination 15%

  • Coordinates, schedules, and completes home study visits using established study protocols.
  • Implements the research activities including distribution and completion of surveys, data collection and management, subject identification and recruitment, interviewing and scheduling.
  • Provides training as needed with respect to clinical procedures, medical record review, and other aspects of study protocols as needed.
  • Works closely with principal investigator and research directors on development of, revisions and updates to protocols, study materials, and supplies.
  • Maintains close communication with Principal investigator, study research directors, and other study staff regarding study progress, processes, collection, and delivery of samples and needed supplies and materials.
  • Coordinates and conducts chart reviews as needed.
  • Assists study research directors with data monitoring and tracking activities, preparation of reports, Institutional Review Board ( IRB ) renewals and revisions, and coordination of other administrative activities as needed.
  • Coordinates collection and delivery of samples with laboratory, clinics, hospital staff, and other study staff as needed.
  • Maintains study supplies, equipment, and materials.

Recruitment, Interviewing, and Measurement/ Specimen Collection 60%

  • Responsible for contacting study participants and scheduling home visits.
  • Adheres to most current public health recommendations regarding Covid-19, including symptom surveillance, screening questions, and personal protective equipment.
  • Conducts pediatric assessments to include spirometry, anthropometric measurements, and venipuncture in the home environment.
  • Coordinates home visit scheduling with study staff.
  • Maintains high level of research professionalism to maintain participant engagement and retention.
  • Provides education and instruction to participants on informed consent, study materials, collection of samples, measurements, and follow up processes according to protocols.
  • Conducts necessary follow up activities as needed and coordinates with laboratory and other study personnel to assure specimens and measurements are collected, processed, entered into databases, and delivered according to protocol.
  • Enters accurate study data in establish database in a timely manner according to protocols.

Medical Records 5%

  • May conduct medical record reviews according to study protocols and may act as a clinical resource to other study staff for medical record reviews.
  • Maintains working relationships with medical and administrative staff to coordinate medical record review activities.

Data Management 10%

  • Assures that data are successfully collected and managed.
  • Assures that subject and data confidentiality is maintained and data integrity is maintained.
  • Generates pertinent reports on a monthly or as needed basis. Assists in the organization of study related protocols on the server.

Project Support 5%

  • Coordinates periodic review and update of protocols and assists in preparation of materials for IRB requests and renewals.
  • Maintains accurate and efficient tracking system for study documents approved by IRB and assures protocol materials are update to date and distributed appropriately.
  • Coordinates mailings for study subjects, follows up with staff on missing forms and materials, and maintains supply of materials for staff.

Miscellaneous 5%

  • Other study tasks as needed.
