This field position contributes to the success of Frito-Lay, Inc. by enabling EHS risk management including; risk identification, evaluation, control, regulatory compliance, incident investigation, and post-incident management in the dynamic industry of distribution centers. This leader is an EHS subject matter expert in the areas of Safety and Environmental in distribution locations and can clearly articulate, develop and support the implementation of a risk-based, prevention program.

This person is responsible for implementing the FLUS Supply Chain EHS Annual Operating Plan within their assigned responsibility and building the National Distribution EHS agenda based upon the AOP and the division risk assessment analysis. This position supports the Regional Team agenda by developing and implementing programming, training, and consultation that helps each site achieve its goals.

The Regional In Market Operations SC EHS role responsibility is to anticipate EHS issues, assure risk management processes are applied, coach capabilities into the regional teams, analyze incident data, and develop actionable solutions. Employee advocacy and protection of others delivered through a prevention strategy is this roles primary focus.

The successful candidate will be an EHS leader for the company and be able to engage, motivate, and align the Frito-Lay Supply Chain organization towards designated EHS objectives, as well as be a part of the development, recommendation, and implementation of regional EHS policies and procedures. The candidate is expected to provide collaborative, proactive, and creative problem-solving ability to develop best-in-class EHS programs for the improvement of the overall EHS strategy and execution of that strategy execution

  • Lead implementation of program elements/tools to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations and applicable company requirements (i.e.Working at Heights, Powered Industrial Truck, Machine Safety, etc.)
  • Provide technical and regulatory expertise in developing EHS continuous improvement processes and determining needed to follow up activities associated with EHS incidents, agency inspections, and/or internal/external audits
  • Support the development of the strategic EHS annual operating plans, assess field location performance in relation to the EHS vision/plan, and determine necessary course corrections in order to achieve the plan
  • Conduct periodic location visits and EHS activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements, Frito-Lay EHS National procedures, and internal PepsiCo EHS procedures
  • Understand key performance indicators, benchmark amongst Frito-Lay locations to determine target location opportunities
  • Work hand-in-hand with Zone Operations Managers, Market Ops Directors, Regional EHS Managers, and other like key Headquarter Leadership to reduce EHS risk across the organization
  • Provide regular and detailed status and trend analysis to Region Leadership
  • Develop and perform risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/ or behavioral control measures. Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in-place control measures
  • Identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use
  • Participate in the development of leading and lagging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that deliver best in class EHS performance and demonstrate a high level of urgency around needed EHS paradigm culture shift change
  • Analyze key EHS data and help develop prevention plans to address process or risks gaps. Think strategically and ensure EHS Performance plans are timely, achievable, and performance-based
  • Define and analyze data trends and EHS performance to ensure that the right priorities are identified and acted upon for the organization
  • Coach leaders at all levels within the organization and use strong influencing skills around EHS goals/values and that a strong EHS culture ensures business productivity targets can be met
  • Identify issues, coach and lead field locations in the development of a corrective action plan to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques (e.g. 5-Why)
  • Expected travel up to 50%

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing/fleet as an EHS professional
  • Knowledge and experience with EHS Management systems and their deployment
  • Displays strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Understands and can articulate EHS requirements and regulations
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking skills and presence in meetings and training environments
  • Demonstrates professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader
  • Ability to:
    • persuade, influence and make formal presentations
    • lead, supervise, manage and develop individuals and high-performance teams
    • work collaboratively with colleagues to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment
    • maintain confidentiality
    • make independent decisions

    • travel up to 50% (dependent on business needs and fluctuation)
