Salesforce Engineering Manager

Cisco Systems Inc.
San Francisco, CA 94102

Meraki is making IT easier, faster, and smarter. As a business unit of Cisco Systems, Meraki is the fastest growing cloud-managed networking team in the world, with products and technology architecture that are changing the face of enterprise networking and making cloud- managed IT a reality. Headquartered in SF, the team has a growing international footprint with offices in Europe, Australia, Singapore, Japan, and China. On top of that, we're on track to be the most successful acquisition in Cisco's history (and certainly the most fun).

The Role:

The Business Systems Group is a growing engineering organization that focuses on building internal business systems to make Merakians more efficient.

We are looking for an engineering manager who will provide architectural leadership, review code and designs, and introduce engineering processes and automation (e.g. Devops) in Salesforce and Dashboard. This engineering manager will serve as a strong mentor who is consistently cultivating a collaborative environment where the team can do their best work. In this highly technical role, you will make your own direct contributions to our code base, but your primary focus will be on team execution and development!

What you will do:

  • Hold regular one-on-ones with your team, provide ongoing coaching and mentorship, writing performance evaluations, and career planning.
  • Help your team navigate decisions between cloud-based versus in-house solutions and open source products versus proprietary ones; striking a balance between self-learning, formal training, conferences, and on the job training.
  • Work with your senior engineers to identify and scope areas for improvement, ensuring we have a secure, scalable and very reliable platform.
  • Work with other teamsincluding Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing Ops and Support to deliver on projects important to the business.
  • Collaborate with peer managers to prioritize and execute on critical business projects, maintaining strong collaboration with the rest of engineering to make sure your team stays consistent on processes, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
  • Be responsible for all engineering practices: CI/CD, Product Quality, Technical Debt Management, and Agile Maturity.

What skills you possess:

  • 5+ years of experience leading a large engineering team
  • 6+ years of experience developing systems for large-scale production environments with 3+ years of Salesforce development experience
  • Experience in building and implementing an integration strategy, ideally using Mulesoft
  • Experience building growing systems that balance time to market, usability, reliability, and technical debt
  • Experienced with a variety of tools that help you manage, understand, and debug large, complex distributed systems
  • The ability to quickly adapt to changing situations
  • A BS/MS/Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

Example projects:

  • Implementing a new business model such as stocking at Distis (vs dropship) and rolling out a subscription billing model.
  • Implementing a new Partner digital roadmap using the Experience Cloud.

Bonus points for:

  • Formal project management with scrum certification in Agile Methodology.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Technologies:Mulesoft, webMethods, Oracle Cloud, ERP, Learning Management System (LMS) and Marketing automation tools.
  • Curiosity drives you to peek behind the curtain to gain a deeper understanding of whats going on and continuously improve
