Overview **This is a location free role, with preference to candidates located in Plano/DFW, Chicago, New York, & Rogers. The PepsiCo Fleet Engineering and Sustainability team is a high-performing team, responsible for building strategies that guide and influence asset design, sustainability improvements, productivity, and Capital leverage. The Heavy Duty Engineer will focus on developing and deploying assets that improve safety, reliability, and sustainability performance across the PepsiCo North American Fleet which is one of the largest private fleets in North America. This individual will have exposure to both Frito-Lay and Pepsi Beverages Senior Supply Chain leadership team. A successful candidate will bring an engineering or automotive background, sustainability focus, and analytical skillset to solving strategic issues for the fleet function. This role will support the Better Together Fleet organization, bridging fleet strategies across the PepsiCo North America organization. Responsibilities Equipment Specifications and Builds: Responsible for on-highway heavy duty, Class 8 equipment specifications and new equipment builds to achieve operational requirements, life cycle, cost, safety, and efficiency targets. Equipment specifications to be developed based on duty cycle and intended business use with manufacturers. Cross Functional Leadership: Partner with safety, delivery, expansion, and transport teams to deliver solutions that improve user efficiency and safety, reliability, and enable sales system growth. Program Management and Cost Control: Effectively manage corporate capital programs to deliver timely results in a cost-effective manner. Industry Technical Leadership: Partner with suppliers and manufacturers to identify, develop, and implement new technology. Sustainability Stewardship: Support pep+ sustainability agenda to comply with regulations, reduce fuel/energy usage, operating cost, and greenhouse gas emissions. Advance supplier capabilities and align with pep+ organizational strategies. Industry Leadership: Engage with peer fleets, professional organizations, gov't and non-government organizations, trade associations, and academia to align with industry and bring outside ideas in. Continue leading change in the industry in the heavy-duty space through sharing best-practices, participating in committees, and adopting applicable technology. Asset Purchasing Process: Liaison/partner with PepsiCo Global Procurement and Fleet Capital Management team to ensure vehicles are purchased on time at the right cost, quality, and performance. Qualifications Skills / Experience Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and collaboration to solve problems in a matrix organization with lateral and vertical stakeholders. Ability to evaluate an optimize technical solutions for desired financial and business impact. Ability to clearly communicate and win support of ideas and plans to all levels of the organization, both written and verbally. Critical thinking, strong analytical skills and data-based approach to decision making. Ability to travel to field locations and suppliers (up to 50%). Ability to lead meetings of various sizes with varied constituents and present/speak effectively. Ability to integrate into the PepsiCo Fleet Team and contribute to people and organizational development. Organization: Detail oriented and highly organized working structure. Creative Problem Solving: Ability and passion for creative, out-of-the-box thinking to develop and vet solutions for the business, as well as a willingness to question the status quo and generally accepted beliefs. Passion for the Consumer and for Consumer Packaged Goods: An ongoing desire to make one of the worlds strongest CPG companies even stronger and experience developing growth strategies leveraging consumer insights. Leadership: Bring a servant leadership mentality, with the ability to quickly identify how to add value and skill to balance a bias for a leadership role while equally able to work collaboratively within teams. Motivation: Self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a high-demand, performance-driven environment. Intellectual Curiosity: Awareness of emerging trends and competitive activity in the marketplace. Cultural Sensitivity: Understand cultural and social differences in key markets and potential secondary markets. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Qualifications / Requirements 5+ years experience in Automotive Engineering, Fleet, Transportation, Supply Chain, or Analytics. Technical Degree and Experience: Engineering, Supply Chain, or Technical Degree Required Relevant education and background in engineering, fleet operations, automotive, or supply chain in a large fortune 500 company. Leadership: Proven leadership in complex, matrix organization organizations and problems and ability to deliver in ambiguous environments. Collaboration: Ability to navigate working across beverage and snack fleets, range of key stakeholders supporting strategic, transformative initiatives, duty cycle differences, etc.d Process and Program Management: Ability to evaluate and optimize solutions for desired impact. Proven ability to manage large and complicated projects. Influence: Ability to clearly communicate and win support of ideas and plans to all levels of the organization, both written and verbally, across entities. Strategic thinking: Ability to anticipate organizational and industry considerations to outline a roadmap of future fleet. Vendor Management and Development: Ability to manage external parties to comply with PepsiCo requirements and deliver in full and on time. Ability to identify and develop emerging vendors and their capabilities. People Development - Ability to integrate into the PepsiCo Fleet Engineering Team and Center of Excellence Organization. Ability to contribute to people and organizational development of peers and team members.
