The position will reside in the Global Morphology Laboratory, a section of Global Pathology within Drug Safety Research and Development. We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to work on investigative histology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) projects supporting several research programs. The candidate should have a solid background in histology, and experience developing and validating new IHC assays. The ideal candidate will work well independently, as well as, be an excellent communicator with team members.


+ Develop and optimize IHC assays both chromagenic and fluorescent using automated platforms

+ Run established immunohistochemistry assays in support of investigative projects

+ All facets of routine histology, including, tissue trimming, processing, embedding, and sectioning

+ Scanning microscopic slides into a virtual slide database for pathologist review and downstream image analysis

+ Documentation of all laboratory work in an approved electronic archiving system

+ Providing and generating data updates for project pathologists, team lead, and for discussion at team meetings


+ Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field, with 6+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 5+ years of experience

+ Knowledge of automated immunohistochemistry platforms, such as, Leica Bond and Ventana Ultra

+ Experience troubleshootingIHC/IF and finding solutionsto overcome technical hurdles

+ Ability to work with research teams to clearly define the steps needed to build a new IHC assay

+ Excellent communication skills both written and oral

+ Ability to multitask and prioritize work as needed


+ HT/HTL (ASCP) certification is strongly preferred

+ Experience working in a histology/immunohistochemistry lab within a pharmaceutical company with knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices is desirable

+ Basic understanding of digital image analysis principles is highly desirable

+ Experience with ACD RNAScope platform is a plus

+ Rodent necropsy, special tissue collection, and cryotomy

+ Prior experience animal model histology and immunohistochemistry
