Job Description

Tevas Global Research & Development (R&D) organization is devoted to the development of new medicines, devices and combination products that provide meaningful therapeutic benefit to patients worldwide. Combining creativity, scientific rigor and our extensive knowledge on a broad range of technologies, our scientists, engineers, medical doctors and project leaders across the globe use their expertise to innovate novel biologics, biosimilars, small molecule specialty medicines, generics and over-the-counter therapies.


The Scientist will lead or support mammalian and microbial cell culture process development leading to commercialization of recombinant therapeutic proteins. They will plan and execute cell culture studies in laboratory with minimal supervision.


In addition the Scientist will develop robust cell culture processes by performing medium optimization, process optimization and manufacturing suitability.


Other duties:

  • Design and perform scale-up studies using engineering principles
  • Lead technology transfer of clinical products to internal or external clinical manufacturing sites
  • Perform manufacturing activities at the internal clinical manufacturing site as needed
  • Interact with CMOs and provide technical leadership. 
  • Support manufacturing deviation investigations as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Author technical reports for documentation of development and tech transfer activities
  • Lead a compliant laboratory operation in accordance with SOPs, internal procedures and policies


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or other science related field of study with 6 years of experience in biopharmaceutical/biotech industry. OR Masters with minimum 4 of years or PhD with no industry experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with design and execution of cell culture studies in support of process development for mammalian and/or microbial products


Preferred Requirements:

  • MS/PhD or Post-doctoral training in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or in a related life-sciences field
  • 5+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
  • Direct participation in a biologics product commercialization
  • Experience with harvest and purification unit operations
  • Experience with automated high-throughput cell culture systems and integrated analytics
  • Thorough understanding of biology, biochemistry and molecular biology related to recombinant DNA products
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory or pilot scale bioreactors
  • Familiarity with the cGMP principles and how these apply to process development of licensed biological products
  • Experience of authoring technical documentation and regulatory filing documents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
