SEC Reporting Manager/Director (depending on experience)

Our unique long-read gene sequencing technology generates complete and highly accurate data, giving scientist more insights. This position will be reporting to VP, Chief Accounting Officer. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and dedicated professional to be a key member of our accounting team. This position represents a unique opportunity to provide accounting and reporting expertise and work daily with a broad array of executives and diverse  management on key issues. This position will also oversee the high-profile special projects within the Accounting and Finance function.

This person should have significant knowledge and experience in applying and interpreting technical accounting, reporting and disclosure requirements, as well as a good understanding of economics and business matters.


  • Research and document accounting positions for complex transactions

  • Follow emerging accounting issues and proactively analyze their impact on the Companys results and financial position and lead implementation of new accounting standards

  • Prepare and file SEC Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K

  • Review XBRL tagging of financial statements (prior experience preferred)

  • Prepare, file and coordinate printing of Proxy (prior experience preferred)

  • Prepare and file Forms 3, 4 and 5 for Section 16 Officer equity transaction filings (prior experience preferred)

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the company's financial statements in accordance with the US GAAP and SEC Reporting standards, including preparing financial statements and drafting disclosures and MD&A for both annual and quarterly financial statements

  • Collaborate with appropriate departments for the preparation of the non-financial sections of SEC Form 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy and 8-K

  • Drive the quarterly drafting and review cycle including the quarterly disclosure committee meetings and meetings with the leaders of the business functions.

  • Complete all relevant disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires.

  • Benchmark disclosures against industry peers' filings

  • Prepare monthly reconciliation for significant accounts, such as stock-based compensation-related calculations and resulting journal entries, as needed

  • Assist in the preparation of various analysis to support our quarterly reporting

  • Assist managing the annual SOX planning process and the risk assessment meeting of internal controls over financial reporting; draft and/or formalize policies processes and controls


  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SOX and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with technical research and preparation of accounting position papers

  • Excellent oral and written communications and analytical skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA is required

  • Minimum of 8 years experience preferred, including Big Four public accounting experience or significant relevant public company experience

  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, multi-task efficiently and manage deliverables from a variety of contributors

  • Outstanding project management skills to establish and meet deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, detail oriented, with high level of ethics and integrity
