Cox Enterprises is hiring a highly motivated Senior Applications Administrator who will work as a part of a 24x7 Production Operations team with a primary focus on supporting production applications and services including Web Applications, system integration, Oracle EBS, and Business Intelligence (OBIEE) Reporting. The Applications Administrator will be responsible for supporting multiple applications and is expected to understand application functionality from a Level 3 perspective. This position reports to the Senior Director of Delivery and Operations and has no direct reports.

The ideal candidate should have excellent troubleshooting skills and follow-through while adhering to established Change and Problem Management processes.


* Thorough understanding of Microsoft and Linux operating systems

* Troubleshoot efficiently and determine whether an issue is server related or application related

* Learn new software technologies with minimal training and documentation

* Deliver documentation for installing, configuring, maintaining, and decommissioning software

* Deploy software upgrades and patches while ensuring correct system configuration and operation

* Partner with Systems and Database engineers

* Develop solutions to automate daily maintenance activities and routine tasks

* Advise on application/system architecture and process design

* Develop and publish procedures, including "run book" instructions, workflows, and architectural drawings

* Participate in the development and documenting of departmental guidelines and standards for service delivery and scheduling methodologies

* Responsible for analyzing existing and new processes and implementing more automation to increase productivity

* Understand application/system performance measures and leverage monitoring tools to minimize service interruptions

*General Production Operations Responsibilities:*

* Think clearly and abstractly, in high-pressure situations, to resolve critical issues

* Communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner

* Articulate and provide convincing arguments around business/technical decisions or direction

* Adapt response to a given situation and appropriately articulate technical language with the customer

* Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction from management

* Flexibility and willingness to work during non-standard business hours as needed

* Liaison between architecture, application development, project managers, network infrastructure, server engineering, and support teams

* Participate in discussions to determine application developments and/or changes within current application configuration/architecture

* Troubleshoot issues with existing or developed systems and works with the appropriate resources to resolve them

* Perform and assist others with root cause analysis

* Participate in relevant post mortems following high severity issues

* Adhere to change management and system development lifecycle policies and procedures

* Serve as a resource to implement projects plans addressing objectives, timeframes, preliminary testing and post-production support of complex software applications

* Serve as a project resource to successfully complete assigned tasks on time and on budget

* Perform audits of the environment to identify deficiencies of standards, performance, and availability

* Participate in Disaster Recovery configuration, planning, and corresponding testing

* Remain current and proficient with new technologies and propose ideas that improve efficiency or effectiveness

* Evaluate products and solutions that might improve or enhance the services provided by the team

* Prepare and assist with business case documentation for capital investments in new technologies

* Execute technical presentations to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences

* Prepare status reports for current activities and projects

* Work with solution owners/product owners to capture requirements, document operational

* playbooks for new tools/applications and define support workflow in tools like ServiceNow

* Perform break-fix updates and environment maintenance, deployments, patching, updates, etc.

* May assist end-users, develop custom reports/dashboards and tool enhancements


* BS/BA in related discipline preferred or 5-7 years of experience in related field certification required in some areas - OR -MS/MA and generally 5 years of experience in related field; certification required in some areas

* Strong organizational and communication skills

* Must possess strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

* Ability to prioritize and multi-task

* Ability to think strategically and propose solutions to enhance operational effectiveness.

* Experience in installing and configuring batch processing

* Proficient with UNIX, Linux, and Windows Operating Systems

* Experience and understanding of Oracle WebLogic, Oracle WebCenter, Oracle Content Management, and Oracle Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)

* Proficient in using Windows PowerShell and/or Unix/Linux Shell Scripting

* Client-Server Application experience

* Experience with debugging tools

* Ability to provide on-premise and SAAS tool configuration, monitoring, and support

* Experience working with solution owners/product owners to capture requirements, document operational

* playbooks for new tools/applications and define support workflow in tools like ServiceNow

* Experience in using agile iterative development methodologies; sprint planning, change management, etc.

* Should possess technical proficiency with network and server configuration and management

* Strong industry knowledge and ability to adapt to future technology changes

* Proficient with 3rd party ITSM tools including ServiceNow.

* Proficient with business productivity tools including Office 365


* Experience with CRM Tools (ex: Salesforce), Enterprise Portals & Employee Applications

* Ability to document development operations process standards & procedures

* Powershell, UNIX, Windows, Azure, AWS
