**ROLE SUMMARY** The cardiometabolism group within the Metabolism 1 line at Pfizer Internal Medicine research unit located in Cambridge, MA is focused on understanding the mechanisms by which energy regulation impacts heart function. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of drug discovery efforts centered on identification of novel targets, pathways, and mechanisms in cardiometabolism.


+ We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong work ethic who has solid experience in cellular and physiological metabolism, cell signaling, cell biology, and cardiovascular biology.

+ The candidate should be able to complete experimental studies, carry out data analyses and interpretation, record results in electronic lab notebook, and report findings to the team.

+ The candidate must be a highly driven, independent, very organized, and detail oriented scientist and possess strong communication skills to thrive in our highly collaborative environment.

+ This role will interface with an interdisciplinary team of scientists in the Internal Medicine Research Unit and engage in both target exploration and contributing to established projects in our portfolio.

+ The candidate should be willing to work with live animals and post-mortem tissues.

+ The candidate must enjoy learning new things and should be open to working in many different cell types/models encompassed within the cardiometabolism umbrella.


+ BS with 5+ or MS with 3+ years of experience in pharmacology, cell biology, or physiology.

+ Deep expertise in cell biology with emphasis on metabolism and signaling pathways is essential. Experience working with cardiomyocytes, smooth muscle cells or endothelial cells is a plus.

+ Experience required in mammalian cell culture, protein and RNA preparation from cells and tissues, Western blot, q-RT-PCR, ELISA, enzymatic assays.

+ Some experience required in basic animal handling; experience preparing primary cells from animal tissues is strongly desirable.

+ Prior experience in the pharmaceutical setting is desirable.

+ Candidate should have the ability to work independently as well as with an interdisciplinary team of scientists in a highly collaborative environment.
