Senior Associate Scientist

The Senior Associate Scientist will be responsible for working with fellow scientists for the preparation and qualification of reagents for use in validated and qualified high-throughput Ligand Binding Immunoassays (LBI). The incumbent will design and execute reagent qualifications using a standard departmental format and with limited supervision Responsibilities will include conducting experiments and analysis using the Luminex platform to evaluate the performance of reagent test lots prior to their use in clinical throughput. The Senior Associate Scientist will be expected to summarize and evaluate experimental results and present them to project teams for consideration. Careful documentation of work and presentation of data is required. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and tracking reagent inventory, supporting technical transfer of reagents into GLP laboratory space, and supporting clinical testing. In addition, the candidate will train junior colleagues on standard operating procedures for assigned assays

+ Relies on weekly work assignments from direct supervisor. Organizes assigned work according to established departmental priorities.

+ Performs Luminex based assays for reagent qualification and for clinical testing as needed.

+ Prepares Luminex microspheres, quality control serum, proficiency panels and assay buffers as needed.

+ Schedules and performs release tests on critical assay reagents, as needed.

+ Performs data analysis on experiments and compiles data for presentation.

+ Writes standard operating procedures, reagent qualification reports and other technical documents as assigned.

+ Presents experimental results at group meetings and project meetings.

+ Provides input in study design and/or perform experiments for improvement, qualification, validation of clinical assays.May assist Assay Development colleagues in these endeavors as directed.

+ Trains junior colleagues on defined laboratory processes for assigned assays.

+ Ensures long-term continuity of clinical assays by scheduling the purchase, manufacture and qualification of replacement reagent lots. Takes responsibility for inventory database entry, storage, and distribution (both physical and electronic) of reagents used for clinical testing.

+ Interacts with external vendors to obtain quotes, and purchase reagents for clinical testing where applicable

+ Satisfactorily completes all cGMP/GLP and safety training in conformance with departmental and company policies.

+ Performs job responsibilities in compliance with cGMP/GLP and all other regulatory agency requirements.


Master's degree in a scientific discipline such as immunology, microbiology, virology and/or bacteriology or a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as immunology, microbiology, virology and/or bacteriology with 3+ years of experience

+ Use of scientific reasoning skills to troubleshoot or improve assay performance, data systems and clinical processes.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Extensive hands-on experience Ligand Binding Immunoassays that utilize the Luminex Platform

+ Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and deliver in a timely manner.


+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Work, Outlook)

+ Strong attention to detail

+ Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment

+ Experience working with human blood samples is a plus

+ Experience in a cGLP environment
