**Research unit overview**

Pfizer- Boulder Research and Development, located in Boulder, Colorado USA, is a fully integrated drug discovery unit focusing on research and development of targeted small molecule therapeutic agents to treat patients afflicted with cancer.


We are seeking a protein biologist to join the Structural Biology group at Pfizer- Boulder Research and Development Unit. This individual will work closely with our protein biology experts to express, purify, characterize, and crystallize a variety of challenging proteins for use in both structural and mechanistic studies.


+ Perform E. coli growth and recombinant protein expressions at liter-scale

+ Purify recombinant proteins from E. coli or eukaryotic host cells

+ Contribute to set up of protein crystallization trials and optimization

+ Assist with biochemical and/or biophysical characterization of proteins

+ Document experimental data

+ Contribute to written and oral presentations related to research findings

**Basic Qualifications**

+ Minimum Bachelor of Science degree with 3+ years' post-graduate, or Master of Science with minimum 0-2 years' post-graduate, research experience.

+ Experience in recombinant protein expressions in E. coli

+ Experience in protein purification at mg-level yields with minimum supervision

+ Familiar with AKTA purifier system and standard analytical techniques associated with assessing protein purification process

+ Strong organizational, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Experience in protein crystallization resulted in diffracting crystals

+ Able to collect X-ray diffraction data from protein crystals

+ Experience in or familiar with biochemical or biophysical assays on protein functions

**Physical/Mental Requirements**

+ Able to lift 50lb objects with dimensions 12 inches in height and 26 inches in width

+ Able to visualize microscopic objects under microscopes

**Non-Standard Work Schedule, Environment Requirements**

+ Able to adhere to safe work practices and perform lab works with appropriate personal protection equipment such as but not limited to safety goggles, facial mask, gloves, lab coat/ protective gowning, and closed toe shoes

+ Able to work at flexible hours occasionally when performing time-sensitive experiments
