As the Senior Billing Representativeyoull play a critical role in creating a quality experience that impacts the financial well-being of our patients. In an environment where the patient is at the center of everything we do, the Senior Billing Representative, Group Lead will assist the Department Supervisor by performing combinations of the following activities:

  • Coordinate and maintain work flows

  • Audit and administer quality control of work completed in the department
  • ""
  • Perform Senior Billing Representative work duties
  • ""
  • Handle escalated issues with both internal and external customers, and within the department.
  • ""
  • Provide training to new and seasoned employees, provide performance input, and assist with disciplinary action.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8 hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 9:30 am start time and 3:00 pm - 5:30pm end time . It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 1001 Adams, Norristown, PA

The Senior Billing Representative Group Lead is a direct point of contact for employees in providing coaching, training, and constructive feedback as well as leadership. If selected for this position, it is required that you successfully complete the UnitedHealth Group new hire training and demonstrate proficiency to continue in the role.

Primary Responsibilities:

    ""
  • Performs all tasks of a Senior Billing Representative or a Group Lead
  • ""
  • Based on department needs, monitors one of the following: back end operations or functions, front end operations or functions, daily production tracking, and quality, reports and control activities to ensure that metrics are being met.
  • ""
  • Trains existing employees and new hires and completes other trainings throughout the year.
  • ""
  • Work with IT to obtain new users ids and functions
  • ""
  • Proactively identify QC issues for new hires. Develop and implement action plans for improvement in conjunction with the Supervisor.
  • ""
  • Assure appropriate employee production by providing contingency plans for vacations and absences
  • ""
  • Communicates with superiors, peers, employees, internal and external customers, and others, as appropriate, on regular basis, assuring proper flow of information.
  • ""
  • Assists in documenting standard operating procedures, job aids, meeting notes and business rules for the department.
  • ""
  • Assists in resolving problems relating to all areas of Patient/Third Party/Remittance billings and missing information.
  • ""
  • Develops recommendations for corrective actions based on production and quality issues.
  • ""
  • Responds to patient complaints and escalated issues to assure the appropriate action for resolution occurs.
  • ""
  • Provides input and guidance to staff members in order to ensure continuous improvement in processes and possible automation improvement projects.
  • ""
  • Facilitates individual and small group meetings.
  • ""
  • Maintains current knowledge of billing requirements and system practices.
  • ""
  • Maintain all Compliance and HIPAA regulations at all times
  • ""
  • Depending on the department will monitor or work one or more of the following: Bad Debt, adjustments, write - offs, coordinate work flow, Front End Operations; daily billing production to assure timely billing of all payors; and daily cash posting process to ensure cash is posted timely

  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience
  • ""
  • 1+ years of experience in A / R, Billing, and Customer Service, Insurance, and / or Healthcare
  • ""
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours / week) within the operating hours of the site, 7:00 am - 9:30 am start time and 3:00 pm - 5:30pm end time including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and / or weekend and holidays as business needs
  • ""
  • Able to travel to the office up to 25% of the time to conduct work as business needs
  • ""
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener.   • Previous work experience requiring exceptional data entry proficiency and accuracy

  • 3+ years of experience in patient, client, or third party insurance billing
  • ""
  • Previous work experience in a fast paced environment requiring strong multi-tasking and problem solving skills

  • Previous experience coaching and training a team in a collaborative environment
  • ""
  • Previous experience in operational areas or QA/QC
  • ""
  • Advanced working knowledge / expertise in Quest Billing system
  • ""
  • Demonstrated ability using computer and Windows PC applications, which includes strong keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programs
