Senior Client Relationship Manager
Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a US-based Senior Client Relationship Manager to support our best-in-class client relationship program. This position can be based out of our Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, or our Washington DC offices.
Orrick’s Client Relationship Program helps our partners broaden and strengthen the firm’s relationships with a set of valued clients – by listening to our clients and coordinating our teams to deliver the best of Orrick. Through the program, we seek to add value for our clients, expand our relationships into new practices and geographies, support our teams in providing superb client service and thought leadership, and ensure we’re creating opportunities for diverse lawyers and collaborating with clients on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals.
We are continually looking for ways to innovate our approach to client relationships: facilitating regular relationship reviews with client teams and business professionals to formulate strategic plans, offering tailored legal training to introduce clients to new talent, working closely with legal operations professionals to find more efficient ways to deliver legal services, and bringing in the voice of the client through client listening interviews.
The Senior Client Relationship Manager position is a new role at Orrick. We are looking for a strategic thinker who can partner with our team to drive client relationship growth and who shares our values around client service and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting client teams in continually deepening their understanding of the market in which our clients operate and each client’s business and objectives
- Strategizing, developing, and executing client-specific plans
- Coaching our teams on ways to broaden client relationships and speaking our clients’ “language” in terms of business needs and Orrick offerings
- Facilitating client team communications and planning sessions
- Monitoring news and industry activity and synthesizing competitive intelligence for our client teams to inform our strategy
- Helping design and circulate targeted thought leadership to clients
- Researching and designing tailored legal training proposals
- Conducting financial analysis to guide our strategy around client relationships
- Proactively identifying trends in relationship growth, opportunities to introduce new teams and services, and measuring ROI on client activities and investments
- Seeking out meaningful ways to partner with clients beyond day-to-day legal work
- Collaborating closely with Orrick’s Director of Client Initiatives to engage in client listening and continually improve client service
- Bringing lateral partners into client relationships where they can add value
- Collaborating with Orrick’s Pitch & Pursuits team to tailor pitches and RFPs
- Helping manage succession planning within the client teams
- Leveraging client data to ensure we have an accurate picture of our strongest connections and identifying ways we can continually support individual client contacts, and
- Helping design and execute high touch client events
Qualifications:
- 7+ years’ experience in law firm, legal services, or professional services marketing
- JD or MBA strongly preferred, but not required
- Experience working with and presenting to senior leaders
- A strong track record for project management and client service, communications, and collaborating across internal teams
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written (both business and technical writing) and verbal communications skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as exceptional attention to detail
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks, concurrent projects and competing priorities while maintaining calmness and tactfulness in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-driven service organization
- A strong sense of accountability and ability to take ownership of projects and tasks
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach to work, projects, interactions, and client service
- Ability to travel occasionally as needed

The amount of pay offered will be determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, relevant experience, primary work location, market data, and internal equity. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
