As a Data Scientist at IBM, you will help transform our clients data into tangible business value by analyzing information, communicating outcomes and collaborating on product development. Your Role and Responsibilities
The qualified candidate will serve as a senior statistician. Your role will be to contribute to research and evaluation of applications for the statistical detection of potential fraud, waste, abuse and improper payments in healthcare, using tools such as predictive modeling, development of mathematical models, neural networks, and data mining and other analytical methods. Your work will be performed with access to the client's claims data warehouse. You'll also work with medical and investigative SMEs to identify ways to measure and model fraud vulnerabilities and to evaluate model performance. In addition, you'll support ad-hoc research and analysis requests and contribute to analytical work with Medicare claims and pharmacy drug data, applying knowledge of Medicare Parts A, B, C and D benefits.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI) clearance.
  • Masters degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, economics, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience using statistical methodologies to identify fraud waste and abuse vulnerabilities in the Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, and Medicaid.
  • 10+ years experience and proficiency in statistical programming and data manipulation including SAS and SQL.
  • 5+ years experience in the design, management, and oversight of databases.
  • 5+ years experience in preparing written reports (e.g., deliverables, publications).
  • 5+ years experience working in a project team environment or managing a project team.
  • 5+ years experience in working with federal government clients in a consultative role.



Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Active Moderate Risk Background Investivation (MBI) clearance.
