Job Overview:


The Senior Director of Delivery Enablement provides leadership and sets the vision and strategy for a diverse team responsible for enabling Manheim to operate world class platforms. Deals with complex and variable issues, which have significant operational impact and where multiple solution options must be considered, analyzed and validated. Manage a team of Directors, Managers and Software Engineering professionals responsible for the successful implementation and support of solutions that drive business growth and improve operational efficiencies.


Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Product and Engineering, the Sr. Director will work closely with Product and Engineering Leadership as well as key stakeholders across the company to execute the strategic priorities of the company. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient and reliable IT operations as well enabling Manheim software engineering teams to develop, test and deploy code to production safely and reliably. This person must knock down technical, cultural, or organizational impediments, mentor lead technical staff, and collaborate with other product, architecture and engineering leaders to develop a healthy organization. The Senior Director should have a passion for delivering results and learning how new technologies and processes can deliver better software to our customers.


*PRIMARY DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*




* Leadership and management of directors and managers responsible for technical support, site reliability engineering, release engineering, and shared platforms (database, messaging, IBMi, AWS).

* Provide thought leadership and guidance in operating on-prem, cloud-based and hybrid ecosystems, and incremental migration to cloud-native environments with focus on AWS.

* Establish DevOps practices and culture, focusing on continuous improvement, automation, end-to-end responsibility, and strong collaboration between development and operations.

* Provide professional development and mentorship to directors, managers and team members.

* Formulates a strategic vision for the team and defines action plans to achieve organizational goals.

* Establish a fun, creative and enjoyable environment balanced with strong collaboration and productivity.

* Establish people management and processes to attract and retain the best talent in the software and technology space.

* Oversee operational and service management processes to ensure quality, security, efficiency and agility goals are achieved.

* Sets direction for successful engineering operations relative to SLAs, SLOs and root cause analysis.

* Manages career progression for team members to include hiring, performance reviews, salary decisions, mentoring, and coaching.

* Collaborates with relevant stakeholders in Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Information Security, Incident Management and IT Business Partners in resolution of complex support concerns.

* Establishes and leads management policies, practices and strategies to ensure consistency, reliability and operational efficiency across the technology landscape.

* Oversees budgeting for team, including hardware to support projects, staffing, facilities and tools for software development.


Qualifications:

* Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 7 years experience in a leadership role or masters degree plus 10 years experience.

* Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills.

* Experience with large-scale DevOps practices.

* Working knowledge of delivery products with Lean, SAFe, or Agile with Scrum.

* Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies, including cloud-based ecosystems (AWS preferred).

* Strong vendor management and partner relations skills.

* Ability to drive organizational change and build capabilities that effectively optimize operational efficiency and deliver innovative and agile solutions.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders and teams.

* Highly effective in working with a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
