Pfizer is excited to present a Senior Principal Scientist, Translational Omics position within our Drug Safety organization.



**ROLE SUMMARY**



Biomarker science is a transformative discipline to catalyze and accelerate discovery and development of new therapeutics for patients with unmet medical need. As a Translational Omics Scientist, you will be responsible for discovering biological data and insights from multi-omics experiments and large datasets. You will have the opportunity to test a hypothesis using state-of-the-art omics platforms to discover and validate small and large RNAs, proteins, metabolites, lipids etc as safety and/or disease monitoring biomarkers. You will also have the opportunity to apply computational skills for biomarker discovery, development and translation. As a lead biomarker scientist, you will participate and provide scientific and technical leadership to drug development team members. In your role at Pfizer, you will also guide the strategy and champion the execution of biomarker datasets, innovations in biomarker science, publications and external partnerships.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Use cutting edge multi omics methodology/technology to discover, develop, validate and translate novel mechanistic multiparametric biomarker panels to understand phenotypic safety and pharmacology.

+ Contribute to the development of knowledge infrastructure and growing the content and analytical tools necessary to support biological interpretation of integrated omics molecular data.

+ Leverage understanding of biological pathways and disease pathogenesis to create insights from the analysis of integrated omics data and knowledge

+ Leadworkstreams for curation, integration of external databases, and text mining/Natural Language Processing.

+ Work closely withscientists across different disciplines within Drug Safety Research and Development such as investigative toxicology, pathology etc as well as departments across Pfizer such as early clinical development to align both knowledge content acquisition and development as well as analysis with organizational needs.

+ Lead multidisplinary teams across industries towards a common goal of biomarker qualification and publication

+ Evaluate public and commercial databases for relevance and quality and apply systems biology approach towards identifying candidate biomarkers

+ Develop curation guidelines and training materialsfor representation of biologicalknowledge.

+ Drive internal and external science and technology innovation proposals



**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Ph.D. with minimum 8 years of experience in biological sciences preferably with a focus in molecular biology or other advanced degree with significant experience in systems, omics and molecular biology, systems pharmacology, translational medicine, biomarker science, machine learning, bioengineering, toxicology and disease biology

+ Experience working with high-throughput molecular omics data and delivering high value insights. Expert in signaling pathways

+ Expertise with mechanistic investigation of toxicity findings and fit for purpose biomarker development/evaluation, with a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations (e.g. abstracts, posters, podium presentations) related to biological sciences

+ Experience with biomarkers in in vivo and invitro microphysiological systems

+ Experiencewith biomedicaldatabases and ontologies. Familiaritywith scripting languages(e.g., Python) and/or R/Bioconductor. Experiencewithcommonly used software for data visualization(e.g., Spotfire)andsystems biology/pathway analysis (e.g.,Cytoscape, GSEA)

+ Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

+ Strong attention to detail, communication, and organization skills. Team playerwithsolidcollaboration skills. Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and mission-driven atmosphere

+ Team player and leads workstreams in a large global teams and consortia

+ Strong ability to excel in scientific communications and publications



**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Experience with text mining or natural language processingarea plus, but not required
