Prudential Financial is looking for a Senior Software Architect for the Global Technology organization supporting our Individual Solutions Group (ISG) businesses. As a Senior Software Architect working in the Individual Solutions Group (ISG) Technology organization you will help us drive innovation, technology strategy and architecture across existing and new business capabilities. You will be partnering with solution teams working with Prudential's Life, Advisors and Annuities businesses as they rapidly engage in digital business opportunities with partners and customers. In addition, the Senior Software Architect will participate in the evaluation of new products, solutions, and technologies including hands-on proof of concepts (POCs) collaborating with business stakeholders, vendor resources, and technology groups within and outside of Prudential.


Specifically, we are looking for this role to:

  • Decompose the Life and Annuities business models into core business capabilities / models (e.g. create an illustration, submit an application, change a beneficiary etc.)
  • Define the fully digital equivalent of each core capability, expressed in the form of business models, APIs and Microservices
  • Drive the organizations technology strategy and architecture through the definition of key processes, patterns, standards and guidelines 
  • Partner with various solution teams to provide architecture guidance, technical expertise and solution designs that meet business requirements
  • Partner with various solution teams and application owners to develop long term roadmaps and strategic architectures
  • Partner with various solution teams in supporting their long-term data architecture and strategy needs 
  • Lead and support proof of concepts and test and learn activities
  • Participant in the ISG Technology organizations Application Portfolio Management (APM) processes

  • Extensive experience in business capability modeling and business process decomposition, within the context of a large, multi-line corporation. Life and Annuity-specific experience preferred though not required.
  • Deep experience with solution architecture, working specifically with full stack solutions (.net, MEAN etc.), RESTful services, and large legacy application portfolios, in both monolithic and micro-services contexts
  • Solid understanding of modern data architectures (e.g. event driven architectures, data democratization, platform approaches to support ML/AI at scale, stream processing, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of the entire data discipline including structured / unstructured data, large dataset management, data modeling, data quality, and making data consumable
  • Proven ability to articulate the value of foundational technology approaches to executives (e.g. the pros & cons of micro-services architectures in a given context)
  • Demonstrated ability to own and nurture key relationships both up and downstream of the Architecture team to ensure delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills including team collaboration, presentation, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven record of working and successfully influencing across teams and functions
  • Experience working in an Agile (SAFe) is a plus
