Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Trial Paralegal. This position will beinone of ourUSOffices.
Our GOC in Wheeling, West Virginia, is home to more than 300 members. Established more than a decade ago, it was the first centralized administrative operation in a major law firm. Our GOC location is within commuting distance of the greater Pittsburgh area and Ohio Valley, including: Pittsburgh, Carnegie, Moon, Robinson, Cranberry, Green Tree, Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park, Southpointe, Bridgeville, McKees Rocks, Upper St. Clair, McMurray, Canonsburg and Washington; St. Clairsville, New Martinsville, Cambridge and the Weirton-Steubenville metro area.
What you will do? As a Senior Paralegal, you will support the delivery of quality legal services to clients and perform tasks that require the regular exercise of advanced discernment in the method and manner of performing services. You will use significant substantive knowledge and specialization in your area of expertise, mentoring skills, delegation skills, advanced organizational and issue identification skills, strong written and oral communication skills and excellent computer skills.
Below are the responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- You will assist attorneys with all phases of a trial
- You will provide case management support for complex litigation cases and arbitration proceedings
- You will draft various pleadings, such as evidentiary declarations in support of motions
- You will assist with document reviews, database management, and document productions.
- You will prepare pleadings for electronic filing and may electronically file pleadings
- You will assist with preparation for hearings and depositions, including assembling binders and witness kits, and compiling deposition exhibits
- You will assist with cite-checking/fact-checking briefs
- You will travel with the trial team to assist onsite at arbitrations and trials.
- Bachelor's degree is required, a paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program is preferable but not required.
- At least ten years of Orrick equivalent paralegal experience is required.
- Significant substantive working knowledge of the procedures, terminology and documents relating to complex litigation matters; high degree of specialization in areas of expertise.
- Deep experience with the rules and procedures of California state and federal courts.
- Have working knowledge of E-Discovery procedures.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to understand and summarize case-related documents.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Have strong organization, verbal and written communication skills.
- Distinguished time management skills, and calm in a time constrained, dynamic environment are important.
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and any practice related software, such as document review platforms.
- Ability to travel for trials and arbitrations.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
