ADP is seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher to join our user experience team in our Alpharetta, GA location. The successful candidate will have a strong background in user experience research with a passion for perfection. This position will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing research on highly interactive web software applications and services with numerous initiatives occurring concurrently.

Position Summary:

This position for a Senior UX Researcher is part of ADP's corporate UX team and reports to the Director of UX. 

\r\n

The UX researcher will have strong research skills, a knowledge of emerging and prevalent trends in the UX industry, and the ability to collaborate around goals and to self-manage. In addition, proven consensus-building skills are a plus, along with the ability to think strategically in a rapidly evolving environment. The successful candidate will be a driven self-starter with a focus on problem solving and building modern and engaging product experiences, and thrive in a fast paced, fast thinking, multiple business line environment.

What Will You Do

  • As a UX innovator you will work with peers and leaders across multiple business units to provide discovery research -- thinking beyond today. It's fun work, and your impact will be broad.

  • You should be able to analyze, study, and understand applications, business domain data requirements, user task flows and objectives, and execute research in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for coordinating, planning, executing, and reporting on UXR activities across ADP products, services, and platforms.
  • \r\n
  • You will be working closely with other UX practitioners, designers, strategists, Product Owners, and other project stakeholders to propose and conduct both strategic and tactical user research activities. You will act as a user-advocate during the development process and bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex enterprise design challenges.

  • You will be a member of ADP's Core UX team which sits at the corporate level, so you'll be a thought leader. This means cultivating a balance between getting stuff done tactically and thinking more broadly about the whole organization. You'll need to be able to shift on a dime, and you should be a savvy communicator -- good at reaching out to colleagues and interested in building relationships with people inside the company.

  • You will provide expert guidance on user experience research to Development, Product Management and other stakeholders, identify the appropriate user experience research methods/activities for each project and will be responsible for designing, planning, conducting, and communicating results of related research studies at all organizational levels with the highest quality.

  • We'll want you to acquire a deep understanding of our strategic products, of customer and user needs, of our different business environments, and of the competitive landscape. You will use this foundation to make good strategic decisions.
  • \r\n
  • This isn't a technology role, but you will need to understand that different teams use different technology stacks and that this can sometimes impact adoption of design. You'll inevitably get into conversations about javascript, data sources, stylesheets, etc. so you should be able to speak intelligently with folks about it.

  • As a key member of a small team you will promote a fun, supportive, collaborative environment to bring out the best work in others.
  • \r\n
  • You will coordinate User Experience Research activities for ADP products and services. These activities include, but are not limited to, identifying the appropriate user experience research activities; designing, planning and implementing these activities.
  • \r\n
  • An expert who possess a deep and broad background in UX research, and can lead user experience research specifically as it relates to software development. Working closely with stakeholders, the User Experience Researcher:\r\n
      \r\n
    • identifies the proper research methods based upon product phase and timeline
    • \r\n
    • creates proposals and research roadmaps/timelines
    • \r\n
    • obtains stakeholder approvals and acts on research proposals
    • \r\n
    • recruits test participants, creating screeners, managing participant scheduling & related external vendor interactions for recruiting as needed.
    • \r\n
    • sets up and facilitates testing covering quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques in accord with product goals and in support of data-driven/informed design.
    • \r\n
    \r\n
  • \r\n
  • You have broad expertise in end-user data collection involving complex web and mobile software applications and has experience performing most if not all of the following:\r\n
      \r\n
    • 1:1 task-based testing/IDIs
    • \r\n
    • iterative discovery / formative testing
    • \r\n
    • remote moderated 1:1 testing
    • \r\n
    • remote un-moderated testing
    • \r\n
    • remote open/closed card sorting
    • \r\n

    • \r\n
    • ethnography/day in the life/site visits
    • \r\n
    • contextual inquiry
    • \r\n
    • 1:1 interviews
    • \r\n
    • concept testing / desirability studies
    • \r\n
    • prototype testing
    • \r\n
    • survey creation

  • \r\n
  • You may also have experience performing the following research activities:\r\n

  • The User Experience Researcher will also have demonstrable ability to perform:\r\n
      \r\n
    • triangulation of research data across multiple points and areas
    • \r\n
    • reporting on insights from results and creating enhancement recommendations based on such.
    • \r\n
    \r\n
  • \r\n
  • You investigate and evaluate User Experience Research trends in the industry and communicate your recommendations to the enterprise team aimed at enhancing UX processes, incorporating new or innovative ideas, increasing research velocity/value/efficacy and/or recommending new methodologies and tools as appropriate.
  • \r\n
  • You are comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment, and in a collaborative fashion, on user experience research activities throughout the software development lifecycle of applications, often with numerous research initiatives occurring concurrently.

  • Naturally, you have expert proficiency with Morae, Qualtrics, Usuara, Axure, and/or iRise Studio or other research or prototyping tools. You may have even done prototyping using Balsamiq, Axure, or InVision.
  • \r\n
  • You have at least a bachelor's degree in something interesting. Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction or a related discipline is a plus.
  • \r\n
  • Ideally, you have worked in a cross-functional team, wearing different hats. You may also have experience at a large company.
  • \r\n
  • Knowledge and experience in Information Architecture, User Interface Design and Visual Design along with related best practices is desirable.
  • \r\n
  • Experience performing UX Research on software within an Agile SDLC.
  • \r\n
  • You have a strong work ethic. You have a solid process and are focused on outcomes.
