What You'll Do

As part of the Cisco CMS organization, you will be part of a dynamic, fast paced and encouraging team that will build you up as you own the technical support for some of Cisco's biggest customers. You will be given the opportunity to work alongside many of Cisco's Technical and Advanced Service organizations and will receive unusual insight into the IT services industry all the way from pre-sales to day 2 support as an engineer focused on some of Ciscos key customers.

Tier 1 Engineer also called as monitoring engineers are expected to be eyes on glass for all the alarms which appear on our monitoring tool. They will create Incident and start with first level of troubleshooting

These groups are responsible for providing required level 1 support to the Incident Management teams. They perform first level of diagnostics to resolve the customer service impacting incidents. They provide continual updates to the incident owners in order to meet contractual and performance objectives

Inputs to Orchestrations Engineer:

  • Ensure 24/7 availability of the production environment and lead the daily operations
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board Review Meetings internall and with customer.
  • Ownership of root cause analysis process, and ensure remediation of major issues.
  • Ability to provide assistance in a support capacity with problem and incident resolution and assume major incident and problem ownership and accountability
  • Recreate Customer Issues for Technical Troubleshooting in the Operate Lab
  • Drive issues related to firmware and report issues and suggest enhancements.
  • A proven understanding of the ITIL framework and its application in a production environment.
  • Troubleshoot & resolve the incidents and problem tickets within SLA/SLO.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of existing and new technologies and be able to tie the design and implementation of infrastructure to the run components.
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills with an initiative to drive problems to resolution.
  • Work with design & engineering teams to understand product and project requirements.
  • Performs Advanced Troubleshooting and Diagnosis of Complex Issues
  • Provide input to continuous improvement and process change suggestions
  • Provide phone/email consultation to independently debug complex network problems
  • Provide systems/product training to peers within the team.
  • Take ownership and accountability expectations in running cases and customer situations.

Who You Are

  • BS/MS qualified (favorable - IT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering).
  • Preferred CCNA/CCNP/CCIE.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a Network Operations Center or Technical Assistance Center.
  • Strong technical experience to include Orchestration, Data Center, Cloud & Virtualization technologies.
  • Ability to work with internal and external executive level customers with confidence while providing an uncommon experience.
  • ITIL

Required Skills:

  • Network Automation/Orchestration skillsets in frameworks and toolsets, including Cisco Network Service Orchestrator (NSO) or Tail-f NCS or Collaboration Workflow Manager.
  • Preferred to have Network Programmability skillsets in Software Defined Networking (SDN), REST APIs, NETCONF, YANG, JSON, and XML.
  • Programming experience in Python, Java and Exposure to Micro services architecture.
  • Basic administration of mongo-DB and/or Postgres
  • Experience with docker and other container management
  • Experience with logstash
  • Basic understanding of node-js
  • Extensive hands on experience with linux operating system and scripting
  • Foundational knowledge on routing and switching protocols
  • Foundational knowledge on Cisco Data Center Compute platforms like UCS Blade & Rack Servers
  • Foundational knowledge on Cisco Data Center platforms including cisco nexus, motivation switches, ASR routers
  • Foundational knowledge of Cisco and Industry Cloud computing (i.e. Openstack, VMWare and AWS), Data Center, Virtualization, Storage and Networking solutions is desirable.
  • Deep understanding and/or experience with L2-L3 networking, data center, and security technology, sufficient enough to understand customer solutions, topologies, and interactions with higher networking layers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues and isolate problems.
  • Deep understanding of Incident & Change Management process
  • Teammate with strong communication skills in both written and spoken format
